Jagex is ambitious about where it will take Runescape to.

A few months ago, Jagex announced that it was developing Runescape 3. Essentially, it would do to the game what Runescape 2 did to Runescape Classic. The in-game graphics are getting a drastic facelift and the game will be re-coded in HTML 5, though the old Java client will still be available.

Cool, Runescape 3 is coming to tablets. I wonder would it also be played in a web browser, or as a custom mobile app.

Runescape 3 got rid of Java, and is now using HTML5 which is a big improvement since now users won't need a plug-in like Java to play the game.

I seen some pretty impressive looking HTML5 games which look great. I think HTML5 supports a web version of OpenGL called WebGL.

I wonder if it is possible for HTML5 game makers to make these games work on nextgen game console browsers which most likely will support HTML5, so gamers can play HTML5 versions of games on a web browsers with controller, or keyboard and mouse connected to console.
