Well, I'm almost done with this year, and since Christmas is upon us, I've decided to take a quick look at the 2025 anime, Sanda.
Sanda is a show about a kid becoming the next Santa. It's based on a Manga written by Paru Itagaki and was directed by Tomohisa Shimoyama. The animation was done by Science Saru.
I don't really hate this, but I'm not really into it either.
Sanda is a very weird show. It's a pretty neat idea about a high schooler becoming the next Santa Clause but I found the execution to be a bit lacking. Particularly with the main character Sanda, he's just boring. I'm not really rooting nor interested in seeing him become Santa so the entire premise kind of falls flat on it's face.
The biggest thing about Sanda is that he's boring. His personality doesn't really stand out to me and I honestly couldn't really tell you that much about him.
The other major characters also fail to leave an impression on me. Some of them look cool but they also seem to lack any real personalities outside of one or two major tropes.
In all honesty, this was pretty tropey in general, which granted, is very in line with most Christmas media. But it never fully set up these characters before getting tropey which just made those tropes less forgiving to me.
Overall, I'm disappointed in this. I hoped for a more interesting show.
