At TGS today Square Enix reaffirmed its presence on iOS and also announced significant support for Android by announcing a bevy of new titles and ports for both platforms.

Perhaps most notably, the company announced Square Enix Market, an Android games portal that will offer Square Enix games and apps. The marketplace is slated to launch later this year, with support from Japanese carriers NTT Docomo, NDDI and Softbank. No release outside of Japan has yet been announced.

On the games front, Square Enix revealed that Chrono Trigger will be hitting both iOS and Android, a move sure to send shivers of pleasure up the spine of any retro jRPG lover. Final Fantasy Legends, Itadaki Street and Dragon Quest Monsters will also be receiving updated mobile releases for both iOS and Android.

Finally, Final Fantasy 1, Final Fantasy 2, Chaos Rings, Chaos Rings Omega, and Crystal Defenders were shown in a sizzle reel for the Android marketplace, meaning they should all be hitting the Android platform soon. Fingers crossed for English releases.

The company also announced three original mobile games: Chaos Rings 2, Diffusion Million Arthur, and Demon's Score. Despite its name, Chaos Rings 2 is actually the third title in the company's mobile-exclusive jRPG franchise. Arthur is the latest project from Chaos Rings producer Takehiro Ando, and is a decidedly Japanese-themed card-battle retelling of Arthurian Legend. Demon's Score is (oddly enough) being developed by Epic Games, but other details are currently scant.
