Here's a topic where you can talk about some funny Zelda moments that have happened to you. You can also talk about the first Zelda game you played and how it came to be. My story is pretty weird.

When I was 5 there was this video rental store I would always go to and they would also have video games. At the time the N64 was popular so that's where I got to try new games. It's how I first played Pokemon Snap and Diddy Kong Racing. Anyway, they had a game that stood out and that game was Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. So I asked my mom to get it and she was like, "No because I'll have to read everything for you and I don't want to do that." For some reason she thought I couldn't read. I don't really know I think it was just an excuse. So I didn't get it.

About 5 years later, around the time of getting my second Gamecube because the first one had a disk reading error, it came with the the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition. Now because I was only 5 at the time I didn't remember seeing Ocarina of Time because it was just blanked out from my memory. I ended up by passing it and going to Majora's Mask that had an awesome looking art style. I played it and had no idea what to do so I quit. Instead I started playing Ocarina of Time and I loved it. It was so fun and I had a great adventure rush from playing it. Then it hit me that it was the same games from when I was 5 and because I was 10 and knew nothing of coincidences, I thought that it was destiny to play Legend of Zelda. Actually I still think that it's my destiny because something like that just doesn't happen.

So yeah share your stories.

Ah, when I was playing Minish cap - my first zelda game...I saw tall grass. My first reaction: WILD POKEMON?!?!

My first Zelda game was Link's Awakening DX. I remember not being able to get bast the second boss for ages...stupid Genie in a Bottle killed me so many times!! I also remember freaking out when I stole from the store for the first time...I went back in to see if I could give it back, and the shopkeeper killed me...I felt really bad the rest of the game, and since everyone calls you THIEF for the rest of the game, I couldn't forget about it.

You still get called a thief even though he kills you? That's weird.

Anyway here's the story of why I love Majora's Mask now even though I hated it when I first played it.

So after play OoT for 3 years, yes it took me like 3 years to beat because of the Water Temple. I had to restart a lot because I thought I broke it when I first played it. Anyway so after beat OoT I decided to play Majora's Mask, which is the sequel. I got stuck on the first thing so I did what anyone would do... Walkthrough. However I only really used a walkthrough for the first part of the game and from there is was "smooth sailing." I say it like that because I had a hard time with The Great Bay. No pun intended though. I also got stuck in Stone Tower Temple. However I didn't fall in love with the game from it's dungeons, I fell in love for it with the story. It was dark, it was awesome, it scared the crap out me when I was younger. Though it's a bit more "adult" than OoT was.

Also I read that MM was actually about growing up and that's why it's like that. It's kind of a weird theory, but it's believeable. The theory talk about Link starting off as a childish kid and even though he is the Hero of Time, all anyone sees him as is some kid. It also explains the dark themes such as death and one has to exept it growing up and the love thing between Anju and Kafei. Then in the end becoming an adult. Which is why
the Fierce Deity Mask looks like adult Link in OoT.

I can't find the full theory, but you can look up. However it may spoil the game if you haven't beat it.

I remember the first time I tried to get Biggoron's sword in Ocarina of Time N64. I kept going overtime, and I constantly rage-quitted.

For a moment there I thought you stole this game from a store... LOL

Really, I've played Link's Awakening too (took me almost 2 months to finish it), but I never knew you could actually steal from the store. All I remember is being very excited about Yoshi's doll. I kept wondering what that was all about!

Ahh...the trade sequence. So much fun, and it's required to beat the game heh.

Yeah, you can steal from the store...what you do is grab the item from the shelves, run behind the register (the shopkeeper will turn to face you whatever direction you're in) and run out the door before he turns around. There are two issues and two rewards for doing this. The rewards are that you get the item for free (duh) and if you look in the windows of the shop right afterward you get a picture from the mouse. The downsides are the being called THIEF for the rest of the game, and if you want to shop there again you have to let the shopkeeper kill you with his lightning shooting powers...

When I played Link's Awakening last year I needed an item from the store, but I had no rupees. I didn't know you could steal. I mean if I knew that I would not have spent all the time getting the item I needed to get. I don't even remember what item I needed. All I know is that I never beat LA. I should restart it and try again.

That's pretty funny. So it's true, then: Zelda games are educational. You should never steal, not in real life, and not on Koholint Island, either! LOL

That's why I always cut every bush, kill every monster that crosses my path, and destroy every barrel, rock, etc.

Just so I can collect as many rupees as possible!

What? I was the only one here to have The Legend of Zelda as his first Zelda game? I was 9 and had no freaking idea how to beat this thing but I loved killing stuff. Once I bought a candle and got mad at how it was just a single use per map I got so mad that I burned a tree. To my surprise I heard the secret noise and a staircase showed up.

To bad the game was a rental and it was my brother who rented it, he didn't like it so he returned it in less than an hour. 2 years passes till it crossed my path once more and I forced myself to learn English to understand the booklet once I did I felt in love with the series, right after finishing the game I rented Zelda II and love it ever since.

Another interesting story comes from this.

I was looking through my tapes and it showed my cousin and I playing the NES and in the background you could hear the ending song to Zelda II. Meaning that we had just beaten it. So as where that was my first Zelda game it may or may not have been. I was looking through my old NES and I found the copy of Zelda II. I also found the original Legend of Zelda. The thing is, these were games I played when I was at the age where I don't remember them and I played them on such rare occasions that the memories didn't stick.

So The Legend of Zelda could have been my first Zelda game or Zelda II could have. I'm unsure which came first. However, the memory that I remember starting Zelda was at the age of 10. That's why I consider my first game to be Ocarina of Time rather than Zelda II even though I beat Zelda II like 15ish years ago. I mean I was only 2 or 3 in the video.

The oldest zelda game I have ever played was A Link to the Past. My brother, (who was 7 at the time) bought the game and would play the game with his friend every weekend until he beat it. Than 8 years later I dig the game up and play it. I REALLY REALLy enjoyed it. Although it wasn't my first zelda game I've played, the experience was as magical as my first zelda game.

Ocarina of Time was my first Zelda game I played on the N64, then four swords, and windwaker at my firends house (A Zelda Girl, she loves zelda too)
Then I think.....A link to the past on one of my old systems, but when I got the 3DS, I got Ocarina of Time 3D.

I have never even played "A Link to the Past," although I had the chance to play it on the GBA! Somehow I missed that.

My first Zelda game was, like I said, "Link's Awakening."

But apparently Shigeru Miyamoto is thinking of releasing an updated version of "A Link to the Past" on the 3DS! I hope this comes through.
