I feel that these companies are sometimes charging way too much for some games they have on the markets. Don't get me wrong, there are probably very few that could very well be worth the overprice of $60+, but most of them, no matter what console or system you use, should not cost more then $40-$50. Many families do not make enough in this economy to constantly purchase any video game that would cost $60+ in any world.
Well if game developers are thinking for their own good, they should really take a look at their target audience too. Gamers range from kids to even married adults. Not everyone can afford a $70 game, not until you're at least working full-time, or part-time as a college student. Anything before that, you're stuck with F2P MMOs and games with micro-transaction etc.
Also, games probably cost a lot to make because devs are probably putting their money into the wrong area. I can't say for sure because I'm not a dev, but I think it's apparent in recent games that graphics are given much more importance than any other aspects. Most common phrase in game trailers; "Realistic graphics". Truly, that won't be worth anything if the game doesn't play good. Why else can older titles like HoMM3 be given much more preference than the newer HoMMs? We want to see the FUN in games, not realistic lighting and interactive environments. I can step outside my house if I wanted to enjoy those.
