Should Nintendo perhaps have waited a bit longer for the Wii U?

It's due out this year apparently and it was shown just now at E3, but would the console have been even better received online if Nintendo had waited another year?

I mean, the games they showed were generally good. The third party games were good, New Super Mario Bros U looks good and Pikmin 3 looks good. Even Nintendo Land looked okay.

But if they'd had another year, they could have then said something like:

First up, Pikmin 3:

Then...

Here it is, Super Smash Bros 4

It's the game you've all been waiting for, Legend of Zelda [subtitle]!

Then a 3D Mario game, like this:

Followed by New Super Mario Bros U...

With some third party game showreel + Wii Fit + Nintendo Land.

Cue everyone talking how it's the best E3 ever and how Nintendo wins at video games for life!

Anyone agree?

Um... they announced the Wii U last year. If they waited yet another year, people would complain.
Yes, a lot.
And investors would complain loudly, with their wallets.
And it would drastically shorten Nintendo's head-start on the competition.
And the Wii is already practically dead, leaving Nintendo with only a ghost of a home console presence for a whole year.
All for, what? Having two new big-title games for the launch window? There is no way that that strategy would be financially viable. They would lose far more money in potential sales in the Wii U's year of absence than they would ever make up just by having two more big-name games at launch. It is, quite frankly, a foolish idea.

Wait, Flying Squirrel Mario?
Oh man, Peta's gonna love this.
