Should schools have uniforms?

You can get bullied for what you wear but that is not the extent of why people would bully that way. Uniforms are cool but it would cost the said educator some money to make or sell. Then when you are out of school what do you do with the uniform? You may grow out of it.

Uniforms or regular clothes both have their advantages & disadvantages. My school was public so just wore regular clothes. I wouldn't prefer uniforms in school because people need to establish their own identity especially as kids. But I can see how some would want to be, literal, uniform to everybody else. I don't believe it would stop bullying. Just look at Private schools. They still have cliques.

I feel buying uniforms can cause moral problems if the uniform maker secretly uses slaves, or child workers who may got tricked or forced into working in a sweatshop clothing factory with poor working conditions like forcing many people to work in a hot factory which has no air conditioning.

.....what?

How is uniforms going to deter bullying?

Everyone is wearing the same clothes. You don't have the rich kids coming to school wearing the most expensive name brands and the kids that are poorer wearing whatever they have. It may just be one less thing for people to bully someone about.......everyone will be wearing the same clothes to school everyday so the poor kids may not get teased about their poorer clothes and what not.

They won’t be teased about their clothes, but there’ll still be bullying and they’ll be found out they’re poor through cliques and such.

Other countries that have uniforms still bully poor kids for being poor.

Cliques can differentiate. That is something that is pretty important and I think it is not easy trying to cope in this kind of situation.

As long as students wear something decent, I don't see any need to make the uniforms compulsory. It should be a thing of choice.

I think uniforms are good
It's just that bullying wouldn't stop just because of that uniforms. Children should learn empathy and the difference between being cool and cruel.

I hated school uniforms in middle school. They were bland and boring.

While I do agree that some kids will bully someone because of their clothes, I don't believe that making kids wear uniforms will stop bullying from occurring. Kids that are going to bully will find another way to do it if they can't bully someone about their clothes.

True, bullying will always find a reason.

I think being forced to wear uniforms maybe a safety concern if there is an increase in school violence. Some parents may feel safer when their children is wearing protective clothing made of harder materials or protective foam which can protect their child from physical violence.
