Should Sony make jailbreaking legal?

Well, it's not illegal - a company doesn't decide the laws of its country (yet!)

It's just their policy of how they deal with a modified device.

What people seem to always think is that companies are like government and somehow have your best interests at heart - so much that they might sacrifice some of their own freedom to ensure you have some freedom.

But companies are out to make money and secure their money making in the most ruthless way possible that customers will not lash back at (OR if the lashback would not harm their income all that much, they don't care about lash back either)

In other words, they'd like to install a jailbreak in their actual customers if they could, rather than anything of theirs getting a jailbreak installed in it!

This isn't specific to the company in question - all companies are ruthless - the ones who are less ruthless tend to get eaten by the more ruthless ones. But everyone thinks companies are like some kind of benign parent - and they are happy to let you think that or even make ads to fake that impression. Just saying - as a general kind of warning.

It shouldn't be allowed on any console. I just don't see the point in it. It's hacking, and we all know how much companies hate hackers... It shouldn't, and will never be allowed.

I dont think they have major problems with someone making the console better with mods and making it run better.
However, they just know people would take advantage if they made it legal and get copies of games.
