Smash Bros direct tonight?

Apparently it's at 10pm GMT, and will be the final Smash Bros broadcast ever. People are saying it'll show off stuff like who won the character ballot and any other DLC that Nintendo plans to wrap up the game with.

So yeah, what do you think will be shown off?

I'm expecting some awesome character reveals. It would be great if some really crazy 3rd party characters made it in, although I wish they would be free rather than DLC. I still haven't bought Lucas and he was my main in Brawl.

At the end, they will cut to a live feed of Sakurai with other Nintendo officials surrounding him. They will have him commit seppuku lest he start developing for other companies.

Honestly, I'm scared as hell about who's going to be in. I'm hoping Shantae is going to be one of them. Other than that, I can't think of anyone else.

Also does anyone know what time it starts Eastern time?

Well it was awful. They announced a bunch of costumes for Mii Fighters. I'm gonna guess the costumes are based on the most popular ballot requests.

We got another Fire Emblem character from the upcoming games so Nintendo can advertise through Smash rather than the usual channels. This was a garbage addition.

Bayonetta was added as the ballot winner, but there is suspicion that she didn't actually win the ballot.

They also spent a lot of time on Cloud. These 3 characters cost $17 total to purchase for one version.

All in all, a terrible way to go out. We got a character nobody wants, a character already announced, a decent 3rd party character, and costumes for characters everyone wanted the most. And this DLC is way too expensive.

I have my suspicions there as well. I mean she's a cool character, I think she'll be fun to play (though I haven't watched her in action yet), and she could potentially be a great addition. But as far as I know, the Bayonetta games were fairly niche, even if they did have a supportive fanbase. I could maybe see her being more popular in the UK and Japan maybe since I don't know their climates, but being so high up in the ballots in that it'd justify her being added to the game? It just doesn't feel very likely. Not over everything else that could have won.

And I agree, Cloud and the new Fire Emblem (Seriously? MORE Fire Emblem??) person feel like marketing ploys then working to please fans of Smash and Nintendo.

Also, they're seriously only adding ONE new character from the ballot, after all this time? I mean, they could potentially really rack up some awesomeness... I suspect the NX is ruining the chances of good support for more DLC for Mario Kart 8 and Smash, as well as all the other Wii U games.

In any case, we'll never know for sure if Bayonetta truly won or not. Nintendo will never release the scores, especially not if she didn't win, and even if they did, we would have no way of verifying that the released scores were accurate. It's really a 'damned if they do, damned if they don't' situation. :/

They should've done the top 5, at least. I have a sneaking suspension this isn't the end. Nintendo has said things like that in the past. If we're lucky, and I'm stretching it to the breaking point, maybe we'll get more.
