As in, doesn't just use the power of say, the Wii or the Xbox 360 or the PS3 for graphics/sound and uses it for actual gameplay elements?

You know, like as people often hope for online, a game world which is many millions of miles across with a ton of things to do in, like Minecraft size but not randomly generated? Or a platformer with hundreds of levels, enemies, bosses and gimmicks but a NES or SNES graphics style and chiptunes?

It always seemed like a waste if you ask me, always using console power for better graphics and music instead of I don't know, making the game more interesting.

Heck, how about a NES/SNES/N64 like game with far better, more intelligent AI or such like? That'd be interesting to see.

Aren't graphics and AI handled by two different parts of the system? I thought AI was handled by the CPU and graphics handled by the GPU.

That's a lot of work for the game developers.

The average videogame takes around 2-3 years to complete. If a company took the time to create a game as deep as that, it would take about as long as Final Fantasy XIII took. By that time, a newer system could have already been developed...
