Apparently, if you hop straight after using a mini turbo, it massively extends the distance the boost lasts. So yeah, say hello to the next big game changing technique everyone will be using online and in time trials. Because hey, it looks cooler (and arguably more fair/balanced) than snaking and wheelies were.
That seems cool, I really don't have any problem with it. Is not a technique that requires advance skills like snaking and eventually anybody can learn it.
I don't see how that is anything different than turbo power-sliding in Mario Kart 64 but with slight hopping to the animation. Someone please fill me in on what I am missing here.
I feel like this could go wrong for people trying to learn it, and I like that…it's easy, yes, but if you hop in an awkward way…the guy in the video almost got themselves off the main road a couple times, and they're good at it…looks like it'll be fairly easy to master though...

Apparently being in contact with the ground severely cuts your momentum during a boost, especially at the tail end of it, and if you jump repeatedly during the boost it significantly lengthens the time you're boosted and the distance traveled because you're not in contact with the ground as much.
Not sure where I stand at this. I wouldn't call it cheating, more of an exploitation of an unintended mechanic. I wouldn't mind seeing this patched though, as I dislike the general idea of it. :/

I stopped playing Mario Kart when they removed the power-slide from the series. That's like saying "when you take the element out of the game, I rock!" Like I always say; options! Make everything a toggle-able option in multiplayer. "Power-slide: [On] [Off]"

But, you can power slide? Like, you've always been able to power slide? I guess I don't understand what you mean.
Personally I just feel like some people having knowledge of a unintended exploit that makes them faster then other races frankly isn't fair. People shouldn't have to look up how to do something that isn't intended anyway, and isn't in the games manual just to compete with other players. I wouldn't quit playing the game over fire hopping, or snaking before it, but it frankly isn't fair to have an un-level playing field. Now if they took out being able to hop as a solution, that would be going too far, but removing the element that was unintentional in the first place wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
