So, when will people hack the 3DS?

Because unfortunately, I assume it's coming any time soon given Nintendo's past track record with hackers online.

We've had in the past. Pokemon is an absolute minefield of hacked Pokemon, hacked games in general and edited save files (then again, the series has always been like that since the original games, to the point the Action Replay's makers basically timed their device release schedule around new Pokemon games being released). Mario Kart Wii and DS have hackers everywhere, using infinite items, super speed and hacks for tens of thousands of VR regardless of whether they win or not and Metroid Prime Hunters was supposedly filled with hackers using AIMBot type codes and invincibility.

So, it's obvious we'll start getting hackers and cheats being used online pretty soon, but when? I mean, Mario Kart 7 is a big incentive for people wanting to 'hack', isn't it? And Smash Bros will be another when it comes out...

And well, I expect the worst when Pokemon Gen 6 comes out for 3DS only...

In due time of course. You can't really stop it with the incentive of online gaming like you said. Honestly the only thing I want out of a possible exploit is the ability to play imported games. To be able to make the 3DS region free would make make my day. There's always those few games that never make it out of Japan that you just have to play.

Actually 3DS roms are already dumped and I heard there are already emulators...

Plus there will be a flashkart called Crown3DS.

Maybe a homebrew channel? Then again, the nintendo eshop doesn't look like it'll accept that but there has to be something later on. And it's about time someone spoke up about hacking with the 3ds.

Nintendo needs better anti-cheating measures in their games. E.g. In Metroid Prime Hunters, if someone is moving at x speed when it should be capped at y speed, they might be cheating. I know recent Pokemon games have had stat checks in place, so that's a step in the right direction.

What does the eShop have to do with it? The Wii Homebrew Channel was never distributed via Wii Shop Channel.

When the 3DS was released, there was that "Hello world" video. There is flashcarts for it already...
Yes. For the DSi. But I think this topic is pertaining more about when actual 3DS tailored flash carts that can affect online enabled games and play ripped 3DS roms becomes more commonly used by the public. Right now we're at the calm before the storm before we start witnessing headlines about how piracy and cheaters are ruining the 3DS.

Hacking has always been. It's never going to fade, someone's always out there to get around the boundaries. This topic's question is pretty much retorical.

We're asking when, not if, heh.

Give it a year or two I say. If it can bypass those regions, I wouldn't mind nabbing a few international 3DS games for the fun, like Arpegius said. And I'm talking about Homebrew mostly, not exactly hacking in general. Hacking would probably come earlier or at the same time, if anything.

Heh...Silly me. Again.
Of course it's inevitable. It probably already exists, it'd take about 6-8 months to become widely used. As of now, we can metaphorically say Hacking doesn't exist at this point. Even though somewhere, it does.

Hm...hacking is not that good at all..... though it is kinda nice to have something to where you can get some items to help you in a game but for online play? I DONT THINK SO!!!!! I don't know how many times I played Mario Kart wii and someone has a cheat to where they get unlimited star power. I hate it. Yes, no doubt that they already have one out. They always do! But, for the most part games are still fun even with the hackers! Oh, sorry I always get off topic!!!!

It won't be too long before it's out there, in fact like Dev said it's probably is already there. Also like Arpegius, all I want is the ability to play the import goodies, but I hope we can wait a little longer until people start using online game hacks.

The people willing to hack their precious 3ds are few, considering most of us don't know how deep to dig, and we could fail and ruin the system.

I wonder what Datel is up to... They never made an Action Replay for the Wii... Maybe because of homebrew beating them there but I'm unsure. It's a race for the 3DS.

This might sound odd but due to boredom I actually put my action replay (not dsi but I do have one) Into my 3ds and it read it and it showed a ds game card with the picture all black. When I tried to use it it said an error occured. So maybe we're close to an action replay all datel has to do is bypass the error.

Same with me! Only my cartridge got stuck in my 3DS! I was so scared it was gonna break the ejecter in the 3DS, but I finally got it out after much thinking.
