So, who's the recommend character to play as in Mario Kart 7?

Have they found out which combo works best yet? In Mario Kart DS it was usually Dry Bones or the like in either the Dry Bomber or Egg 1, in Mario Kart Wii it was Funky Kong and the Bowser Bike, what's the combo this time around?

Is there any kind of official 'tier' list yet?
 
The game's only been out for a few days... And released for us tomorrow so I don't think if there's going to be a tier list so soon.

Well I'm still going to make an educated guess for the future that it's going to be Lakitu (for unknown reasons) (although it would be awesome if it were going to be Shy Guy

). Not sure about the kart.

Edit: Though I can care less about tier lists.

I would hope there isn't, we don't want this becoming Brawl. Like if someone can win with Koopa, they can put him on the top tier.
 
Well, Toad seemed to do very well, always ending up in the top three whilst I played. And when I used him he seemed to find going around a course in 150 CC easier and did it faster then Yoshi. All I did was change the glider to that Swooper-based Glider. Everything else was normal.

Hopefully this is just pure coincidence though.
 
That's the way it would seem. But honestly, any character can be the best when used correctly. That, and items play a huge roll in the races.

I think it's any of the light-weights. I tend to do best with Lakitu though.
 
So... Metal Mario is the new Funky Kong? Heh, I dunno, from the sounds of the time trials, it seems like that. But we all know Shy Guy is supreme.
 
Shyguy and lakitu my friend. I honestly think that shyguy is one of the fastest lightweight characters in the game. You choose well.

Heh, this is just like the time when I started to like Meta Knight in Brawl, solely because he looked so darn cool. And then I discovered the 'tier' list.

But yeah, beating every expert staff ghost with Shy Guy, and just doing everything with Shy Guy, is my main goal for this game.

I hope your right, because I will play as Lakitu pretty much all the time. Hopefully it won't make people play as much as him as Funky Kong in Wii.
