God dammit, first my gamestop and now my PSN account. On my email I got notice of two purchases which I did not make. Someone is pissing me off.

update, changed my password and contacted support. The person has filed a case number and says it should be taken care of despite all sales final.

Not cool.

Any idea how they got into your account?

Also you may want to change your email account's password too just in case. (If they got in via your email then they'll be able to get back in the same way no matter how many times you change your PSN password...) And of course give your computer a thorough scan with your Anti-Virus just to be sure (if you haven't already).

They must have somehow guess my password as it was unchanged and I had notices of purchases in my email, if they did have my email access they would have deleted the notices.

And I'm not worried about my PC, I've one logged in once into my PSN from my PC and that was a year or two ago.

That sucks.

You should use a strong password with numbers, weird a$$ symbols and CAPs, >.>

Won't they refund you if you can prove it has an unauthorized access? They should be able to tell via IP address for this easily enough. It could be worth asking them to find out.

My password was strong, now it's stronger.

I've told them that it wasn't me and they are looking into it. That's all I can do.

I remember in 2011, Anonymous hacked PSN, so it is possible that Anonymous or another hacking group is still secretly hacking PSN undetected years later.

I wonder if PSN accounts from 2011 which were hacked are still being affected by hackers using their login information.

PSN also could be affected by the latest OpenSSL Heart Bleed security problem which let people hack user accounts, and websites because of Heart Bleed.

I think it is best to use PSN points giftcard codes which you buy from retail store, and use your points right away instead of connecting a Paypal, Credit or Debit card to your PSN account.

I've never connected a source of income to anything but paypal and after the PSN hacking years ago I will never use a credit card. Thankfully I think like this and only use prepaid PSN cards or who knows how much would have been bought.

Totally agree there, i've only ever use pre purchased PSN cards to buy stuff from them. Don't think i'd trust anything else, especially as I remember all the down time in 2011 over the issues.

Well I'll be damn, I was approved.

Thank you for your recent call to Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) Consumer Services. We have reviewed your case and as a one time gesture of goodwill we have approved your refund in the amount of $30.98. Please allow us 2 to 4 weeks to finalize your refund and return the funds back to your PSN Wallet/Credit Card.

Please keep in mind that if the funds are being returned to your credit card, it will take up to 1-2 billing cycles through your financial institution before the funds will actually be posted to the account.

Please note, according to PSN terms of service and user agreement, all users should safeguard their account information to prevent use by any other user. SCEA shall have no liability for any unauthorized usage of a PSN account. SCEA will not be able to refund your account again. To check on your refund, please contact your credit card company.

Now the bottom part is complete bullshit, I can never fully safeguard my account from hacking and you're telling me I won't be refunded in the future? I guess I'll have to make sure to never leave anything left over in my account.

A lot of hacks thesedays seem to be caused by things which is not controllable by the customer like the Heart bleed web server attacks, and websites which use an old version of Open SSL, MySQL, PHP, and other website software which is no longer supported, and easier to hack by a hacker.

I think it is best just to buy just enough PSN prepaid points to buy a game, or DLC, so there is less cash the hacker can spend.

That's a good plan.

It would be great if gamers can pay for online game and DLC purchases with checks, money order, or wire-transfer services like Western Union, so gamers can just pay the cost of the game without having any points leftover, or the need to connect a Credit card, or Paypal account to buy games.

I know that eBay, and Amazon Marketplace sellers sometimes accept money orders.
