What do you think? I think they have been hurting quite a bit between the recession and the new and somewhat unpopular PS3.

I heard they where laying off a bunch of staff at one point.

oh they are, and they did lay off people at one time. all I know is there isn't going to be a PS4 for a long time.

Oh man, No PS4 for a long time. I think the PS3 is too expensive, and isn't a very good value for a lot of people.

I think Sony should work on a new console or a cheaper version of the PS3 which is cheaper and still have good graphics since the PS3 seems to be holding them down.

Sony has been hurting, but so have many others. Even Microsoft laid off over 4000. It will not change the game plan though. PS3 will get a price cut this year. Sales will go up and some people may wait for PS4 while many others jump in on enjoying the PS3.

There will be a PS4 in 2011 though. Regardless of the situation. Microsoft plans are aimed at 2010. Which means Microsoft might show up at E3 in June with a new console. Plans are already in motion it would make zero sense to push them back years when the hardware will be ready in 2010 and prepped for launch in 2011.

For some odd, reason. I notice some stores sell more PS2 titles then PS3s. I think the PS2 has so many games. People are holding back on getting a PS3 till they finish all the good PS2 games first.

Froggyboy, I'd honestly rather get a PS2 than a PS3. There is a lot on the PS2 (Like Final fantasy 8-12) and not too much I'm interested in on the PS3.

True, and you can also play old PSX games. You left out FF7 and FF tactics.

PS3 will get a cut closer to Xmas/holiday season.

I was thinking primarily PS2 games, but the backwards compatability is good. I can't help but wonder why they're doing this when the PS2 is still doing as well as it is.

I think sony is doing this, so they can earn less money, but sell more systems. When more people own a PS2, PS2 games sell better since their is a larger audience. Company make most of their money through game sales.

Yeah we all know sony is in a world of hurt. I've still got my ps2 waitning until a ps3 lowers it price for me to buy it but the ps3 is very much worth 250-300 but not 400

The PS3 is a good deal when it is bundled with a few games,BR movies, controllers for 400 during the holidays.

There is still the 4th of July in the States.l Maybe sony can have a bundle that has Call of Duty, Socom, and Saving Private Ryan Blu-ray bundle with the PS3 and sell it for 400.

shoot, you can almost buy a PS2 and 360 for the price of a PS3 ... into an aweome endless library with PS2, and the current gen with xbox.

PS3 has yet to impress me, sure it's got great graphics, but when you have to wait 15-20 minutes for a brand new game to "download" itslelf on the system harddrive before you can first play it ... i was done with it right there.

they've got some serious thinking to do before they feel so confident on their next console release.

The installing thing is only for games that are massive. They require so much decompression/compression that an install just takes that away. Would you rather have 5 minute load times in the game or a one time only install of 10 or so minutes depending on game. The answer is the one time install I would think.

btw. PS2 production will die in 2010. PS3 will be getting cheaper by then though while the PS4 takes over market. PS3 will still be around for consumers like the PS2 was around. Games by then will be awesome.

I hope the PS3 will be compatible with more PS2 games by then. I read somewhere that the PS3 can not play some PS2 games, or it looks bad on the Ps3.
