Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment will be merging and operating under the new title of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
This merger will bring the PlayStation manufacturer's hardware, software and network divisions under a single roof which takes effect on April 1st, 2016.
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) will be led by President and Global CEO Andrew House, who went into greater detail regarding the merge in a press release.
Sony Computer Entertainment was founded in November 1993 and went on to launch its first PlayStation console in December 1994. Sony Network Entertainment was established in 2010 to produce services and content for the PlayStation Network.
It's not clear what effect this will bring to related services.
