Sony wins E3 2013

Not surprising at all that they won.

Microsoft as well as many others should have saw this one coming a mile away.

I knew Microsoft was not going to come up with anything that would put to rest the worries of always on, constant internet connection, and privacy issues of the Kinect.

All those things played out in their failing here.

Although I must admit that they did the smart thing by snatching up some of the games that where expected to be Sony exclusives (Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV).

Well after watching both conferences, who has an Xbox 360 sitting at home, would definitely agree with everyone here that Sony has come out on top strictly because they have not changed their policies and are allowing a non-restrictive DRM. From the onset I thought that the idea of not being able to share my games that I bought was ridiculous, and furthermore, having to be constantly be connected to the internet was really stupid (not everyone can afford to be constantly connected). Nevertheless, it is not what Sony has implemented but rather what Microsoft has changed that has made Sony look so good. Microsoft really blew it, and have made a pretty big mistake when it comes to judging what the players want. Microsoft got greedy, and now it will cost them.

I don't play on the console very much, but do have an interest in getting a Ps4 after watching the conferences. My biggest thing is waiting to see the exact types of games that will be coming out for it. I am excited about some of the games that were show cased though!

But for once, I think Sony might just come out on top this year.
I agree. Microsoft really blew it by changing their policies in regards to game sharing. I felt like Microsoft just dug themselves into a hole and will probably just get deeper into the hole. If I were to buy a console, it would be the PS4 especially since I don't have a DVD/BluRay player (asides from my desktop) - so that's a bonus along with the free game sharing!

Without a doubt Sony has won E3. They showed that they care about the consumers and the consumers have definitely let them know how happy they are. It's kind of weird, it's like... "Yay, you aren't being total assholes and restricting us from playing your console and your games! You're our hero!" But really, I'm just very happy Sony didn't follow in Microsoft's footsteps. Speaking of Microsoft's footsteps, they must look really weird now considering how many times Microsoft has shot them.

I can't wait for some of the commercials and press events that will be hitting the air over the coming months. Sony has a history of mocking their competitors in a pretty hilarious way.
I'm kind of ridiculously excited about the ads.  I think I've seen a few already poking fun at Microsoft.  Then again, they could be just fanmade fakes.  Either way, they got a chuckle out of me, so I'm not complaining.

Pretty much want to echo the sentiment how much and how bad Sony outclassed the XBone. Sony wanted to cater to the consumers, not the publishers. That's a huge deal. Gaming isn't cheap, at all.

And it's that very fact that is going to push Sony's sales through the roof of previous years. They are catering to the gamers, the consumers, the players, and not the publishers. Which without very much thought, is the smartest move because it is the gamers that control the industry in a sense - what they want to buy, and what they do buy, drives what the publishers are going to make. Sony has finally won the debate (in my mind) on who really has the better console (and that's saying a lot considering I've never even played on a Playstation).

I don't understand why Microsoft decided to just change up their policies. They were trying to go for something more exclusive, and it ended up killing them. I mean, isn't the whole point of gaming to enjoy yourself, share your games, and rave about being able to play with others? So what's the point in getting a console that restricts you to the internet (they just eliminated some gamers there), and limits you on what you can share... oh wait, you can't share anything. Well, if I want to share my games with a friend, I will. Hence, the Playstation is my choice.

During the conference, you can totally pinpoint the moment where Sony won the E3, that being when Jack Tretton just hold both his hands together, with the biggest grin on his face, after announcing that PS4 supported used games.

Good for them, they deserve it.

Agreed. Microsoft seems to be catering to just the publishers and hoping that the consumers will buy their stuff, while Sony believes that the consumers will buy a product and the publishers will follow. It's two very different business policies, but I think we've seen which one has already won out. Microsoft's stock dropped dramatically during their E3 press conference and even more dramatically during Sony's, while Sony's stock rose the whole day. I think I understand what Microsoft is trying to get at with Xbox One- they're making sharing games easier (only with a select group of people) and integrating the system with the TV and Blu-ray players and stuff, but they really didn't express it well before E3 or during it. I guess we'll just have to see if they can save Xbox One before the launch. I have a feeling they're going to have to fire most of their PR and advertising staff after this fiasco.
