For those of you unfamiliar with what a Nuzlocke run is, here are the rules I will be following for this playthrough:

1. I can only catch the first Pokemon I come across in a new area, city, cave, etc...
- To avoid duplicates, if the first Pokemon I run into in an area is something I already have, it will not count against me, and I can look for the first new Pokemon.
-If I knock out the first new Pokemon I come across, I lose my chance to catch a Pokemon in that area.

2. If any of my Pokemon faint, they are considered dead, and I have to either a) release them, or
cool.gif
put them into a special box in my PC labeled "Dead" and will be unavailable for use throughout the rest of my game.

3. All Pokemon have to be nicknamed

This is my first attempt at a Nuzlocke, so we'll see how it goes. I'll try to post updates on a daily basis depending on how much time I have to play.

This will be one hell of a challenge. Have you taken the Nuzlocke challenge before?

Ah, this is cool. I saw someone on another fourm do this and it was quite entertaining. Will you be updating with pictures or just text?

Probably no game shots, but I'll be keeping track of my team with pictures, so it's not just a wall of text.

So.... I realized that I'm going to have to be concentrated on this game while I playing it. My Boeing was killed by a Kricketot while training because I was skyping with my sister and just smashing A on my DS without realizing my Boeing was getting murdered. Luckily I wasn't really attached to him, although he was the first Pokemon I caught.

I'm thinking about sticking with Dagget throughout the entire game. When he evolves, he'll become a Normal/Water type right? That'll give me the two HMs (Strength & Surf) taken care of plus he gets STAB for them. I've never done a play through with a Bidoof, so we'll see how this goes.

I'm really liking this idea! I may do this for Emerald seeing as I've started that game over so many times...also, what's the Nuzlocke policy on Legendaries?

Edit: Just looked it up...apparently the Legendaries have an optional rule to follow where you can't get them...it is optional though...so don't forget to snag those suckers!

In Orgeburgh Gate, I found myself a Psyduck which I named Confucius. I knew he'd be a great asset to my team for the next gym because Roark uses the Rock-type, but I was not sure if he would have a spot on my team afterwards. Tarzan evolved into a Monferno after spending some time training in the Oreburgh Mine against local miners. Confucius also became much stronger after I taught him Water Gun and trained him to the point where he could take down any Geodude or Onix in one shot from a Water Gun. Feeling confident in my Pokemon's ability to hand Roark a defeat, I set off for Oreburgh City's Pokemon Gym.

Going into the gym, I was still split on whether I was going to keep Dagget around as my main Water type once he evolved into Bibarel, or if I'd switch him out for Confucius after I beat Roark. I figured I would see how Confucius did in the Gym before making my final decision. Confucius started off making a mockery of Roark's team, one-hit KO'ing his Geodude and Onix with Water Gun (although Onix got off a Stealth Rock). Roark's last hope was his Cranidos, which started off by hitting me with a Leer but I dropped him below 50% HP with a Water Gun. Roark used a Potion on his Cranidos, but another Water Gun by me dropped him down to just a sliver of health left. For the killing blow, I had Confucius do one last Water Gun but Roark's Cranidos struck first with a Headbutt that caused Confucius to flinch and dropped him to about 30% health, so I knew he couldn't withstand another Headbutt. Stealth Rock was out, so I didn't want to put Tarzan out there just so he could get hit by that plus a Headbutt from Cranidos. Instead, I opted to send out out Roc, who was just a Lv. 5 nobody at that point. Unfortunately, Cranidos used Pursuit and killed my Confucius. Roc came in and absorbed the Stealth Rock and he also stood up to a headbutt from Cranidos, finishing off the old fossil with a simple Tackle. Roc gained 4 levels just from that victory, and earned a starting position on my team. I left the Oregburgh City Gym with a new badge and new Pokemon to rely on, but I was left feeling glum due to the loss of my Confucius.

Nothing too eventful for this update. Did some grinding in Eterna Forest; knocked out Cherly's Chansey at the beginning of each double battle and then took care of the two opposing Pokemon on my own. Beat the 2nd gym with ease thanks to Tarzan's Flame Wheel, Gardenia didn't prove to be much of a challenge. That badge gave me access to Cut so I went to the Old Chateau and caught myself a Gastly which I named Spectre. Now the question is, do I keep Dagget as my Water-type or should I give DJ Otter a chance? Let me know what you guys think...

This is a sad update. Tarzan was killed by a Misdreavus in Fantina's gym. He was confused and below half HP due to Misdreavus using Pain Split. I kept attacking though, because I knew one Flame Wheel would kill it, but Tarzan kept missing and hurting himself. I wasn't too worried because Misdreavus was using moves that weren't doing any damage to me, so I figured it didn't have anything to use. Unfortunately, my Tarzan nearly confused himself to death until Misdreavus finally revealed that it knew Psybeam and that was that. After the loss of Tarzan I went straight through the gym to Fantina and knocked all three of her Pokemon out with one Crunch a piece from DJ Otter. It really sucks losing your starter, especially when he's always been my back-up for when I get into a tight corner.

For now, my main concern is which Eeveelution I am going to pick. I thought about Espeon but I have a Ralts I could use as my Psychic type. I know Vaporeon would be a good tank but I already have a pure water type on my team. Would Glaceon be a good choice? I'd have access to Shadow Ball and Ice Beam, the latter being useful for Garchomp in the final battle. What does everyone else think?

Did a lot of grinding since I was tired of losing Pokemon, also found a Ralts that I trained up to a Gardevoir which handled Maylene's gym with ease. Decided to let Luke become an Umbreon. I've never used an Umbreon before so we'll see how this goes... I don't think he has a great movepool (no Crunch!?) but he has great defenses so I'll try to play that to my advantage. Not gonna bother training Sookie until I can get a stone to evolve it and some more heartscales to teach it better moves. DJ Otter is a boss like usual. Time to kick more Team Galactic butt.

Taught Aurora Thunderbolt and she demolished Crasher Wake's gym along with Tubby's team (my rival). Not sure when I get Surf, but I'm hoping it is soon so I can go to Iron Island and get the stone to evolve Sookie so she can play her role on the team. I plan to have an even team of 6 when I go to face the Elite 4. I wonder what 2 Pokemon will fill my final spots....Rhyperior maybe? Altaria? Who knows, we'll just have to see what happens.

Also, is anyone reading this anymore?

My grinding has paid off. Been steamrolling all of my opponents, and Sookie has leveled up and evolved. I also got the Riolu egg from the guy who hangs out at Iron Island handing out the HM for Strength (I guess he has nothing better to do?). My rival, Tubby, always talks about how tough his Pokemon are and how he's gonna be the league champion... this guy hasn't even landed a hit on my team yet, what a chump. I still immensely enjoy hearing other players call him Tubby though. Team Galactic is getting annoying, they seem to just be doing random acts of terrorism wherever I go. Byron's gym didn't give me any challenge; they all used the Steel type so everything in there fell to one Aura Sphere from Sookie. Time to head on to the next gym.
