Here's a life hack: Orange Juice.
Despite what common sense or even thinking will dictate to you, OJ will instantly kill the heat in spicy foods. There's actual science behind this. Maybe later, I'll find a link to back this up, but it's late right now, and I'm tired. But I've tried it. A short bedtime story:
Once upon a time, I was in a particular establishment and one of the cooks had laid out a spice pan with all the spices he'd need for some of the dishes he was going to be making. Well, an assistant came along and was asking a question about how much ingredients to put in the pot, and without looking the first cook just said "all of it, duh." A moment later, there was silence.
"You put the entire pan in there?"
"Yeah, that's what you said."
"There was pepper on there, right?"
"I think so."
"Black and Cayanne?""
"Probably. I didn't inspect it."
"O... kay."
We had "Pepper soup" that night. It was so hot that most people didn't eat it, but I was starving (We didn't really get an option of choices). We also had oranges available, and I remember somebody telling me about OJ. So I figured, what the heck, I'll try it. As soon as I bit into the orange, my lips and tongue immediately stopped burning. In fact, all down my throat and stomach, I felt relief.
So, yes, this does work. Give it a try the next time you over-spice something! Don't be the jerk that used too much Jerk. Hahaha
