So I've been looking, and I couldn't really find a topic on this game. Of course, I'm sure EVERYONE on this forum knows about Super Smash Bros. N64, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but what do you know and/or expect from Super Smash Bros. Universe?
As we should all know, Nintendo announced that this new addition to the Smash Bros. series will be for the Wii U and the 3ds, and also that it should be compatible with each other, such as Multi-player.
I personally will be getting both versions just because of this tremendously awesome news, but I want to know how everyone else feels about it.
From what I've researched they've thought about adding different Non-Nintendo characters in Smash Bros (Namely Capcom). Although I have no idea if that means that Snake and Sonic will no longer make an appearance, though I highly doubt they will. Now that they have finished working on Kid Icarus: Uprising, they will soon work on this new addition to the series, but before I get ahead of myself, I want to know...

What characters do you think, and are hoping they'll add to the new Smash Bros.?
Any ideas on stages? What about game modes?
This is my first Topic, and I want it to be EVERYTHING Smash Bros.
*In addition, the name 'Super Smash Bros. Universe' may change in the future.

Well, sorry to be a bit of a bubble burster, but there has been a few topics, the first one being here:

http://nintendo3dscommunity.com/index.php?/topic/3775-next-smash-bros-game-may-be-called-super-smash-bros-universe/

That said, I can't say I heard the bit about Nintendo considering adding a few non-Nintendo characters mainly from Capcom. I'm guessing a LOT of people will be wanting Mega Man.

I haven't commented in many of these topics, but for me, I think a few more interesting stages would be pretty fun. Brawl's stages were good too, but I think there's just so much more that could be done. Currently a few of the stages are a bit annoying to play on due to gimmicks (that's just me anyway). Making each stage different yet still enjoyable would be pretty nice. I haven't any clue on what they could do to the stages though.

I'd like a few more modes as well, apart from just "knock people off". An improved HP mode that doesn't end as quickly would be awesome.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I won't move this to Wii U Discussion as it's about Wii U and 3DS.

I am really excited for this game to come out! I LOVE smash bros. and I'm glad they're finally making a new game. And better yet its on the most intuitive device ever, nintendo 3DS.

The game was NOT leaked, because the game never even EXISTED on September 21, 2011. It never even STARTED development until maybe a month ago, heck it probably hasn't even started now.

Also, note the date of the article. And for the love of God, can people PLEASE read the DATES of articles before they post about it?

I bet magnus will make an appearence in it but i'm not sure because he does have that huge sword and I can't think of a final smash that would suit him at all.

Well, there might not be a Super Smash Bros. Universe, but there is a Smash Bros coming out for the 3ds and Wii U either way.
The point I'm trying to get at with this thread is that, I'd like to discuss the future Smash Bros, no matter what it's called. No matter if they're working on it now or later.
I'm just trying to get an idea on how everyone feels about Super Smash Bros.
*Also, Universe sounds and looks like the most legit name, so that's what I'm going to call it until I find out some legit info from Nintendo themselves.

Yeah, seeing as they successfully revived Kid Icarus, I think they should do more with Kid Icarus in games like the Smash Bros. series.
I definitely like to see Pit use a different fighting style than the one he had in Brawl, seeing as I saw so many different weapons and powers. I think they should incorporate what he could do in KI:U and use it in Universe

About a year ago I had a dream about the idea for a smash bros. game for the 3ds, and I awoke with an immense desire to play such a game. I then found out that Nintendo hadn't even started working on it, and my hopes sank at the thought of having to wait an indefinant amount of time for it to come out.

So, yeah. I'm pretty excited about this game.

Most definitely!
Just imagine. Now see, I'm getting it for the Wii U and the 3ds simply because you can connect them in some fashion. Knowing that Smash Bros WILL be the biggest Wii U and 3ds seller, I'll know that when I'm home, I'll go ahead and turn on the Wii U to play with people. And when it's time to hit the road, I just take Smash Bros with me via the 3ds.
As the first Smash Bros on the handheld, I'm quite excited for this game.
As far as characters go, I'm hoping they put a huge cast of characters in it. As for the reappearing characters, changing their playstyle couldn't hurt either. Since they're planning on making sure it's much more balanced than the broken Meta-Knight, though I personally LOVE him as a character, people found a way to break him completely.
I'm also hoping they continue with the story mode deal, but also hope they make it well... better. I didn't really like the fact that they couldn't talk, which is understandable because most of them aren't supposed to besides maybe a few iconic lines, but maybe some text box type of deal, and maybe like a open world type thing. Anything to really improved playing the story mode.
Also unlocking characters was waaaaaay too easy in Brawl. All you really had to do was play the Subspace Emissary mode to unlock everyone which kinda took out the fun and mystery to unlocking characters. So hopefully getting characters will be more of a challenge this time around.

I think, number one, they should rework all of the 'clones' from Melee's movesets. E.g. Ganondorf, Falco, Toon Link, etc. I understand that there were very slight changes to them, but generally they were the same character. Falco and Wolf's final smash were identical to Fox (or vice versa) for the most part. I believe every character should each have their own set of moves, similar to Ness vs. Lucas!!! Same genre/style, but different moves nonetheless.

Number two, added characters, in my opinion, should include (and most likely will include...) Miis. Aside from Miis, it'd be cool to see Ghirahim, a return of Mewtwo, and maybe Tails/Knuckles.

I dunno, they have a lot of potential with characters and content, but they also have a lot of hype to live up to.

Most definitely. I agree completely. I always disliked the clone Idea they had in Melee. With Brawl I could tolerate it a bit, because they were adjusted more.
A return of Mewtwo would make my DAY. I always loved Mewtwo. Although many people didn't like the way he was used in the game, I think they can bring him back and perhaps fix him up a bit. The problem with Falco and Wolf was annoying. Their Final Smash attacks were exactly like Fox's besides the controls of said Final Smash. Same with the Link and Toon Link deal.
My problem with Toon Link is that, he's the cartoon-like character. And Link's repeated "A" button attack is what made me like Link at all in the Smash Bros. Series. When they removed it for Link, I figured: Yeah, in reality I guess Link wouldn't be able to pull that off, but with Toon Link, I was expecting him to retain that move seeing as he's faster. Even one of his Taunts have him flailing around the sword like a maniac.
To be frank, I hope they don't a website for it until at least around the same time it's going to come out. I still play the N64 version to this day, and I ONLY play Melee to play with the no longer available characters. I've played Melee since it came out, but Brawl died out a little too early for me simply because I spoiled the entire game for myself with the help of their website. They gave me all the information I needed to unlock the characters, they told me EVERY character that would appear, all the stages. EVERYTHING. So it kinda ruined things for me.
And I know I should have some self control, but if NINTENDO posts some spoilers on a game like Brawl, or even the newest one, as a HUGE fan of the series, I HAVE to take a peek at them.

They did a WONDERFUL job hyping Brawl up, especially with the Sonic Joins the Brawl video. Pushing the game back TWICE. Though annoying, it definitely made the game more satisfying when it came out.

Miis would be an amazing idea. The ability to customize their moveset to an extent would be great too.
It would be a horrible idea if you could pick and choose every single more for the Mii, unless of course they're original moves ONLY a Mii can have. If they were to make it so you pick and choose what characters moves you want would be a BAD idea, because I can tell already, people would pick an arsenal of overpowered moves.(ex. Ganondorf's B move with Pit's B-Up move with Pickachu's B-Down move and Zelda's B-Side move.)
Of course, if you can't customize it, you'll either be seeing a LOT of people or almost NO people, depending where the Miis stand on the "Tier List".
I dunno about anyone else, but even if the Miis would turn out to be weak, cause I pay no attention to any Tier List of any kind. I'd most likely just pick the Mii only because it's my own personal character.

I agree, I never really pay attention to 'tiers' either. I've played competitively with Brawl and have won with Ganondorf. Perhaps that wouldn't happen during a national tournament, but regardless, I find it takes away from the fun.

Most definitely. Before the game came out, I claimed Meta Knight to become my favorite and best character, because I ALWAYS loved Meta Knight as a character. However when it was revealed he was on the top of the tier list, it became rather difficult to use him as any attempts to win with Meta Knight would earn me a lecture about the tier list.
So, I stuck with Shiek as my main character xD

I really like the idea of adding Miis and making it to were there's no more like move sets. I can't wait till it's realeased.
