Support character replacing the main character....

Have you guys ever thought of what would it be like for a support character, to replace a main character?

Like what if...err....ishida or chad or rukia or renji becomes the main character of bleach character and such?

I think it would be pretty hard for it to work with a long anime. Unless it was intended from the start and they slowly built it up, it would be odd. A spin-off, or something that only lasts for a single arc, would be different though.

Well, it's just a thought and ping pong the animation caught me by surprise.
It felt like the main protagonist got replaced in it
