Well, that's certainly amusing in it's own way. Mario and Luigi being portrayed as gay lovers as a jokey response to the Tomodachi Life thing is certainly something you'd never expect to see. Especially on an American TV show...

But what do you think of the video? Funny? Stupid? And how badly do you think certain idiots on social networking sites like Tumblr will react to it?

It was amusing (as in different) but I didn't find it as funny as it's intended to be (except for the hand joke I guess). I'm sure it would rub people the wrong way if they don't like dirty jokes though...

I've seen numerous jokes such as this for years. check any online quote data base like bash.org or qdb.us and search "mario" and you'll see things such as:

<Firebrand> Mario and Luigi are just too "goody goody" with each other.
<Firebrand> I'd wonder what kind of "plumbing" they do
<Firebrand> As I never see them with the tools

But I like how Ellen brought some humor to ease tension on the subject.

This is why I hate Ellen so much. I don't care that she's gay, but she rubs it in everyone's face by doing things like this. It wasn't funny. It wasn't interesting. It was really just a waste of time and money to do that. Even if it was Mario and Bowser or Mario and Toad or anything like that it wouldn't have been funny. I mean I get her interest on the subject and if there was a gay Nintendo character I wouldn't care, but really that's probably the worst way to go about it...

Though it does remind me of this:

So, it is okay to make jokes about a guy and a girl's relationship but not a guy and a guy or a girl and a girl? Why is it acceptable to openly promote heterosexual tendencies but not homosexual tendencies? What makes heterosexuals so GD high and mighty? What gives THEM the right but refuses it from the other side of the fence - or even from those who walk that same fence? You said you hate Ellen for all the homosexual stuff that she does? She has ONE SHOW and stop for a second how SHE must feel having to watch all the other shows that put her preference down and bash it or oppress it and the like as well as those that promote heterosexual tendencies CONSTANTLY. At least she gives homosexuals the ability to watch one show where they will feel comfortable enjoying a form of media free from concern they will be offended from who they love or how they love. I think they deserve that much and I admire Ellen for being strong enough to act upon who she really is rather than allow society's closed-mindedness to shut her in like most others cowardly do.

And for all of those curious; No, I am not bisexual or gay (See TigressStar, my ex fiancee whom I lived with and dated for 9+ years for example) but I am also not a closed-minded member of society who shuns others away for preferences the likes of which they have no control over. That's like saying "People with brown eyes shouldn't be allowed to express care toward one another in public".

This would be alot funnier if it weren't for the incest

Except for the part where Mario mentions "We aren't really brothers; we are lovers" which means they are unrelated and lied about being related, thus no incest.

Heh, I thought this was silly, and it left a smile on my face. I really feel like the whole tomodachi thing has really been blown out of proportion, and it's nice to see someone in the gay community do something to lighten the mood. Everybody got an actual statement/apology from Nintendo, which like, never happens. It should be over and done with by now.

I actually don't like seeing relationships at all to be quite honest so it's not just that. Also I said I'm fine with gay people. I'm very open minded about that if two dudes or two chicks want to be together, fine. But I'm talking about having it shoved down my throat.

That's actually my biggest deal with religion. I don't care for it, but I don't judge others for it either. However, I, most like everyone else, don't like when religious people go door to door "selling" their religion. That's like what Ellen is doing with this. She isn't showing support for what she believes in, she's taking something that she believes in and adding a twist to make... I don't even actually know what she was trying to accomplish with this skit. All I know is that she's taking two icons and are making them gay for no reason.

I didn't even get a chuckle out of this joke. It wasn't very funny, to be honest; and I enjoy The Ellen Show.
