Released worldwide on August 14, 2025, Madden 26 was a highly anticipated release. Initially, the latest game from this iconic NFL-themed series appeared to be back with a bang. However, after gamers and critics alike got their hands on the game, it became quickly evident that the latest title didn’t warrant the hype surrounding it. In fact, many Madden gamers felt let down due to a variety of poor features.
For such a beloved series, it hit gaming communities hard. Sure, some players of the latest Madden game are happy, and they’re enjoying its glorious presentation, but the positives are few and far between for many avid Madden gamers from over the years. After all, for football fans, in particular, when they aren’t assessing today’s NFL betting odds and listening to leading podcasts like The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny, games like Madden are always on the agenda. Sadly, though, for many football gamers, other titles are now taking over.
With gamers everywhere struggling to get over a number of issues associated with Madden 26, below we highlight just some of them. Here’s hoping Madden NFL 27, which arrives worldwide on August 13, is a dramatic improvement.
The offensive side of the game is too easy
Although gamers have mastered the offensive side of the game and continue to score plenty of touchdowns and amass huge scores, the defensive area of the title is tough to master. Of course, people want to test themselves, and making the defense trickier to grasp isn’t all bad, but the disparity between the two feels too big for some. So much so, in fact, that they’ve just decided to neglect the game altogether.
Endless bugs ruining the experience
Although much-needed updates have fixed some of them, there are still endless amounts of bugs associated with the game. To begin with, they were prevalent, leaving many gamers to give up on the title. Today, there are still many complaints around star quarterbacks experiencing notable regression in terms of their attributes following a Super Bowl showing. For players wanting to make up for a damaging loss or dominate once again the following season, the fact that such a key cog in their wheel becomes so unreliable makes for a painful gaming experience.
Pass blocking issues are stupid
Linemen perform an important task in NFL teams. However, while they might get it right on a consistent basis in real life, they’re awfully unreliable in the game. They miss blocking assignments, with win or loss animations kicking in as a result. Providing another undoubted negative when assessing its package, these pass-blocking issues are a real annoyance for many passionate Madden fans.
It doesn’t feel like a football game

While this next reason might seem ridiculous to some given the product’s football theme, many players of Madden 26 feel like the game doesn’t resemble the sport they know and love. Instead of offering a pure football package, many players have complained about the game’s poor scheming element, with many gamers desperate to execute clever strategies and scheme their way to glory. However, the game doesn’t really allow them to do that in a manner that it really should.
A distinct lack of drama
One of the most beautiful aspects associated with the sport in the real world is the endless amounts of drama that occur throughout a typical season. Be it player disputes or quarterback battles, they make the sport so special. In the game, though, there is a distinct lack of drama. For purists, it’s a huge miss and enough of a reason for them to avoid the game.
