New Kondo short interview from A9Vg and Gematsu:

—Are there any plans to remake The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Zero no Kiseki, or Ao no Kiseki in the Hajimari no Kiseki engine?

Kondo:
Hajimari no Kiseki will be our last title that uses the Trails of Cold Steel game engine (the Sony-made PhyreEngine). The next Trails will use a new engine. The new game engine [developed internally by Falcom] has far superior visual performance than the previous one. There is a possibility we will remake previous titles in the future, and I would like to use the new engine if we do.

“About two years have passed since development on the new engine began after the release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV. Two years ago, we didn’t have any information about PlayStation 5 from Sony Interactive Entertainment, so the new engine was developed based on PlayStation 4. We hope to release games developed on the new engine for PlayStation 5, and also plan to release a post-launch update for Hajimari no Kiseki to support PlayStation 5.”

—Are there any plans to release more spin-off titles like Ys vs. Trails in the Sky or Nayuta no Kiseki?

Kondo:
“We have received requests for spin-off titles like Ys vs. Trails in the Sky from players for some time now, but we’re currently in the process of moving over to a new engine, which hasn’t really given us the flexibility to make other titles. We can consider it after the next Trails is complete and the new engine is stable. If the staff is willing and the player demand is there when the time comes, then we can start working on something.”

—Are there any plans to release The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki on other platforms such as Switch or Steam?

Kondo:
“It is only being developed for PlayStation 4, there are no plans at the moment to release on other platforms. Hopefully there will be an opportunity in the future.”

—In an interview early this year, you said you were preparing for PS5 game development and hope to release a screenshot of the new game engine within a year. Is there anything more you can say about your next game and new engine?

Kondo:
“There is actually scene in Hajimari no Kiseki that was made with the new engine, so I hope you can find it.”

A new engine and then throw it onto a new console? That spells lots of headaches and trouble. But I'm sure the end result will be anime like beautiful.

Indeed I am hyped with the new engine. Hopefully the new game's protag is going to be good and 100% manly with the new engine.

The Shin Mugen Kairou / True Dream Corridor and how it’s a randomly generated dungeon, independent from the main game, and where you unlock and play the mini games. Unlocking them works like a gacha. You get special stones by defeating enemies, and play a gacha with these tones, with Characters Episodes and Mini games as rewards. Certain stones can also unlock special characters that aren’t playable in the main game.

The Dream Corridor lets you use any character, as long as you unlock them, so you can make party combinations that are impossible in the main game. You can also use the Dream Corridor to train your characters as they’ll retain everything gained there in the main story.

Toshihiro Kondo and Chen Yun Yun also commented on some of the mini games in Hajimari. They mentioned the quiz game Kiseki de Pon is really difficult and is made for Kiseki Series otaku to fight each other on their knowledge of the series.

Beach de Vacances was also explained. Kondo mentioned how in Trails of Cold Steel, Rean could end up paired with one of the girls. In this mini game, you control Rean and you’ll be able to play at the beach with these girls, with games like watermelon splitting. At first, it’ll only be the girls from Sen no Kiseki and with Rean. But later on DLC will add Zero and Ao no Kiseki girls and we’ll play as Lloyd instead.

Next up they explained the Magical Alisa RS game. They made this one because the Mahou Shoujo DLC costumes in the past game were really popular and many fans wanted to see them again. Moreover, Magical Alisa RS has an actual storyline, linked with the Magical Alisa novel they published in the Falcom magazine. The RS in Magical Alisa RS means Return Shooting. Toshihiro Kondo also explained you need to progress in the Dream Corridor to unlock more stages of Magical Alisa RS.

Next up, we saw the early part of Hajimari, the story prologue, which follows Lloyd’s perspective. Noel was the field character. The gameplay started at the 28:57 mark and lasted for around ten minutes:

Masumi Asano commented on Noel’s butt, saying it’s cute. Kondo said they pay a lot of attention to how each character looks from the back as that’s what you see the most .We most notably saw the tutorial for Valiant Rage and how it’s Tio explaining it in-universe to Lloyd’s party.

Following that, Masumi Asano played Magical Alisa RS on Easy Mode, and Shinnosuke Tachibana tried it on Hard Mode. Kondo joked saying it looks better than the main game. You can find that segment starting the 39:50 mark:
