Scarecrow's Song:
This song can be obtained after travel in time has been acheived. It is not necessary to collect in order to complete the story, but is useful in the collection of pieces of heart. Method:
1- Go to Lake Hylia as a child and talk to the scarecrow closest to the lake.
2- Stand near the scarecrow and take out your ocarina. Then play an easily remembered 8 note tune to him.
3- Come back to the lake as an adult and take out your ocarina near the scarecrow again.
4- Play the same 8 notes back to the scarecrow. He will then remember you and tell you about his friend Pierre.
When Navi goes to a seemingly unreachable place and goes green, play the scarecrow's song to summon Pierre. He will stand in that place and act as a Hookshot/longshot target, allowing you to cross the gap.

Fairy sparkles:
In some areas you may have noticed a fountain of sparkles coming from the ground. These indicate the hiding places of special fairies. Simply play either the song of storms or the suns song or the song of time to restore all your life.

Was this necessary to complete the Fire Temple in the Master Quest? If not, it would have been a very useful tool to have in that dungeon. I never complete that game because of that dungeon. I just remember running around back and forth desperately trying to find where to go next but coming up with nothing.

Not at all. The scarecrow song is in no way necessary to complete the game. In the fire temple, the only use that the scarecrow song has it to help you reach a bonus area that gives you 200 rupees (In the normal quest anyways).

Is posting glitches like swordless Link allowed?

If it is, here's how to obtain swordless Link. Be aware, this is just a glitch, and it doesn't affect your progress throughout the game, except for the fact that you won't have a weapon equipped for the B button.
This glitch is useful in that you can perform some interesting Epona glitches.

The first step to performing the swordless Link glitch is to know how to use any item anywhere. To do this, simply equip one usable item to X, and one unusable item to Y. Use something like boots. Make sure one is grayed out. open the menu, switch the two items (If you have boots equipped to X, switch them to Y). Then, very quickly exit the menu and press the button the "unusable" item is equipped to. This may take many tries, but eventually you'll get it.

Now, use Farore's Wind outside of Ganon's Castle. Play through until you've beaten Ganondorf and exited the castle. After Ganon knocks the sword out of your hand, use Farore's Wind to exit, and you'll still be swordless. To reverse this glitch, simply return the Master Sword to the Temple of Time.

If you want to do Epona glitches, the easiest one is falling through her.
While you're riding her, use a Deku nut or play the Ocarina of Time.

Use the lens of truth to find the flag poles then walk towards each one. When at the stone building, go to the top and use it to see a Poe, and follow it through the rest of the desert.

Oh, and at the start, using either the hover boots or longshot to cross the river of sand.
