John is lucky, and manages to hit the Bokoblin 4 times. He causes 2 damage with each attack causing 8 damage overall! The Moblin is defeated!! John is unscathed!
 
SpoonySage found 10 rupees! Too bad he can't use them here...Having defeated the Moblin, the questers move to the next room. In the next room there is a HAMMER BRO. The HAMMER BRO has a ranged attack so everyone, no matter what their defence is, takes 1 point of damage every turn.

John is unlucky and doesn't manage to hit the Hammer Bro. The Hammer Bro causes 4 damage to John, and +1 for it's range attack. John is on 26 HP!

Heh, all over the place. I'll make my first move once John confirms things. Not looking forward to this battle against the Hammmer Bro, seems pretty powerful. Also, could someone tell me what classes we have to choose from, if a limit? And perhaps a special ability for each class?

if i were you i wouldn't bother battling the hammer bro. you won't be able to deal any damage and would just get hit.
roll 3, atk hits.
roll 6, 6 combo
6-3x6 = 18
hammer bro takes 18 damage

i take 1 damage due to the ranged atk and none due to my DEF level.

As has been pointed out, the battle system is slightly flawed... It probably needs a bit of a re-jig.

Forget everything you've done. It is now irrelevant and obsolete. Here is the new way to create a character. Rules for shops and shields still apply however. So forget everything except those...
So...
CREATING A CHARACTER.
1. Roll one dice. If it is a 1 or 2 you are a WATER elementalist. If it's 3 or 4 you're a FIRE elementalist. If you roll 5 or 6 you're an EARTH elementalist.
2. Roll 1 dice. Multiply this by 10. This is your HP.
3. Roll 1 dice. Multiply by 2. This is your ATTACK score.
4. Roll 1 dice. Multiply by 2. This is your DEFENCE score.
5. Choose a class. These are unlimited and purely aesthetic.

BATTLES
1. Choose a monster to attack (as there may be monster teams from now on).
2. Choose a 'team-mate'. If this person attacks directly (within 1 hour) after you, their attack is doubled, regardless of element.
3. Roll 1 dice. This determines how many times you attack.
4. Check YOUR element, and compare it to the chosen monster. Here's how elements work:
WATER beats FIRE . FIRE beats EARTH . EARTH beats WATER.
If your element 'beats' the monster's, your ATTACK is doubled. (If you are battling in a 'team', you double TWICE)
5. Subtract your modified ATTACK score from the monsters DEFENCE. Multiply by the step 3 number. This is the HP damage you cause.
6. Check the monster's ATTACK score. Subtract your DEFENCE score from this. This is the monster's ATTACK value for YOU alone.
7. Roll 1 dice. If a 1 is rolled, double the amount of damage a monster causes. If a 6 is rolled, you dodge the attack. If anything else is rolled, it deals the number damage found in step 6.
8. If YOU land the killing blow on a monster (reduce it's HP to zero), YOU get to loot the room. Roll 1 dice. If it's 1-3, you got 10 HP. If it's 4-6, you found nothing.

I'm battling the Generic Monster. My teammate is Mr. Generic. I rolled 2, so I attack twice. My WATER element beats the Generic Monster's FIRE so I deal double damage. My ATK is now 6. The monster's DEF is 2. I caused 8 damage to the monster. I killed the monster. Yipee. I found 10 HP in the room. Big Whoop. I now have ... HP. Hooray.
Obviously not as pedantic as that, but you get what I mean. So, sorry for the change, but it'll be worth it!!

No, SSF, that's been removed. The new monster type will be posted when everyone who signed up, re-signs up. And read the new rules for battle carefully... Does anyone have questions about the new rules?
