The Wii Mini exists and is totally pointless...

Seriously, the mini version has no internet capabilities? What's the point in a Wii which can't even access wifi or the shopping channels/WiiWare/Virtual Console?

Really, who the hell would even buy this thing? I think Nintendo is utterly delusional if they think people are stupid enough to buy a Mini Wii with no internet stuff or Gamecube compatibility. The whole machine looks like a joke, and anyone stupid enough to buy it deserves all they get.

Also, for some reason it's Canadian exclusive. Yes, I'm as baffled as you are.

So no eShop, big deal.

Mini Wii with no internet or Gamecube compatibility.

So no crappy browser nor old as hell games, big deal

Canadian exclusive.

IT'S ON NINTENDO!

maybe its targeted at the dumb old or dumb parents that'll buy it for their kids and buy nothing but shovelware,never connect to internet,and treat it like a toy. ugh,i hate those ppl,it makes me cringe.
They might aswell bundle it with IMAGINE: Fashion Designer and Ninjabread.

•..And I thought the Game Boy Micro/DSi/DSi XL was useless. This takes the cake.

Lack of internet really kills it. Does this mean it comes with an altered Wii Menu then, getting rid of the shop channel and weather/news? People were able to mod the original non-Gamecube Wiis to have Gamecube support, who knows, maybe someone will be able to do the same for this.

Although being a Canadian myself, Canada seems to be such a random choice, lol. The price drop really can't justify the lack of Wifi, because even eReaders have Wifi nowadays. But still, the truth is most families I visit don't connect their Wiis to Wifi, some don't even know their own Wifi password... oh well, its designed for dumb parents anyway.

Wait, a thought just crossed my mind;

Why would I need a home console to be small..? ._.

So let me get this straight Nintendo wants to sell a:

  • MINI home-console.
  • That CAN'T access the internet in anyway.
  • WITHOUT GameCube compatibility.
  • That's exclusive to CANADA.

Wait, am I the only one here who actually likes the redesign?

I'd say "cash grab", but I have a hard time believing this will have been worth the development, marketing and production costs.

Well it's good for one thing: Modding. It's like nintendo wants people to mod their consoles. Oh, Nintendo....what are you doing...?

I was gonna say, if it can be modded somehow, I'm buying it. None of my friends have Wiis, and my internet connection is inconsistent regardless. I'll wait to see if it can be done.

No, I like it too.

People gotta realize (and I think someobody else pointed it out) a lot of people don't have their Wii's online as it is. Also, at this price point, it's a budget buy for anybody looking to get a console. If you can't afford to get a Wii at what it costs now, chances are if you get this one you aren't really going to be concerned about accessing the internet with it. You're more than likely just getting it for your kids or as something to bust out and play Rock Band or Just Dance on from time to time. I can see a lot of potential uses for this.

Regardless, you guys aren't the target market and you probably already have a Wii that's wifi capable, so why gripe about it so much?

Also, I'm guessing they chose Canada because they have some data on what percentage of the Wii's there are connected and want to see if a Wii without wifi will sell there before taking it world wide.

Some people take their home consoles with them. I brought my GameCube into school and played it on the projector. Because of the small size I had no problem taking it to school. They could be marketing to that.

You're telling me NIntendo is going to invest money on a product which is supposed to be plugged into a TV+A wall, yet is being made smaller to be portable.

Mind = Blown

Let's make everything smaller, you know what? I'm going on a vacation and I want to make toast, so I'll bring my toaster, but hey, isn't it an awesomebru idea to make it smaller.. So that I can carry it around easily?
