If games become exclusive to it I would rage-quit and boycott sony products. Because they said in the press conference that all PS4 consoles would play the same games. If they go back on that promise I would be more than just a little upset.
I have no plans to purchase the Pro. - But I think there is a market for it. For hardcore gamers who want the latest/greatest best ultimate awesome gaming experience. - But then they'd probably just go with the Xbox Scorpio? Because it has twice as many GPU Teraflops.
I do not have a 4K HDTV. Nor do I have any plans to purchase one within the next 5 years. I got my HDTV for around $110. A similarly sized 4K TV would cost me about $500 or $600. I don't see THAT much of an improvement in graphics to want to pay 5-6 times as much money.
ALL PS4 will receive the HDR update to have better color/graphics. The Pro has an optical input/output and an extra USB slot and of course the larger hard drive.
Really not a bad option considering it's only $100 more. It's worth it for core gamers, but I'm not in that demographic. I don't play First Person Shooters, or the likes which would need that extra oomph.
Also for those considering the PSVR, the Pro is a good choice, the games on PSVR will run much better on PRO.
But if you don't play games which need the extra boost to frame rate and graphic enhancements, and have no plans to purchase a 4K TV or PSVR, save yourself $100 and get the Slim (or stick to your current console if you already own a PS4).
I don't think my tv supports HDR and I won't get a 4k tv for this. So right now I'm just waiting for the first reviews to come in to recommend that I buy this or the slim model.
The Playstation Pro presentation was the biggest waste of my time! They simply showed a new PS4 slim (which everyone already knew about) and then they presented a new Playstation that only had a higher GPU, which may not be true 4k. Also, I don't even use 4k, because I play my PS4 in a portable GAEMS carrying case.
I thought Playstation knew how to succeed and do well, especially after the success that was the PS4, but now I feel like becoming an xBox player. The Microsoft community seems to be taking their time, listening to their fans, and creating an experience for the fans. In my personal opinion the PS4 Pro will have worse sales than the Wii U, because it has the same specs as the PS4 and there aren't that many people with 4k TVs so they are targeting a very small group of people. A large amount of their fanbase I am sure won't be able to use the 4k option and those who can may not get a "true 4k experience".
