What's your thoughts of war?

I think it is completely... USEFUL. With out it, we would have little advance in technology. Because of it, we have more tech, which means more entertainment. It doesn't affect the general public to negatively, but it affects the men and women fighting because they might die, or something like that. The only time I would think that having a war is wrong is if it is completely unprovoked, which all wars were because of provoking. One other thing is the investments on the war equipment. Yes we are in debt trillions of dollars, but it doesn't seem like that debt is doing anything considering I doubt we will have to pay it back.

And besides, our human nature is very violent. There has always been war, and there will never be peace.

Just because something is common doesn't mean we shouldn't try to stop it. And since when would we have less entertainment if there was no war? War didn't make movies, videogames, etc.

Also, it effects the public of the countries who are being bombed to kingdom come.

The only pro about war is it reduces human population. That's it.

This is exactly why we are in a multi-trillion dollar debt, people that think exactly that way. The US needs to relax quite a bit on the defence budget, they pay an obscene chunk of money for it every year, and then they want to cut back on the health care plan. It's rediculous that the US thinks that power is the thing that will rule this world, when they should plant more money into developing technology.

@Dynastygal War advanced our technology. If we didn't have it, we wouldn't really need advances. And through those advances they made micro processors, in turn making computers, in turn making games and phones. And the only time bombs were ever actually used in war was World War II. US bombing Japan is the only bomb used, but countries do have bombs that they aren't using.

@Sarix They should calm down right now, because we are basically screwed. They probably will never pay off the debt, and continue to go into a bigger debt, but the US isn't going to pay it off, and know one will care.

Err, I take it you missed the recent wars then? They bombed Iraq plenty.

The first computer had nothing to do with war.
They didn't bomb Iraq, they invaded. That war is what I think is a stupid war, but no one has used bombs against others since World War II. No accounts have stated that Iraq has been bombed, only invaded.

And the first one released publicly was not meant for war, but the first one created was. Computers date back as far as the 1600's, and it's first primary purpose was help in war, and strategy. Before they had computers they used chess for that. It's like a chess replacement.

Uh, you're telling me they date as far as 1600? Electricity wasn't even discovered till the 1700's, lol. First computers were 1900's.

And you do know what to bomb means, don't you? It means dropping bombs on something. And there were certainly bombs used in the Iraqi war. Hell it was even shown on the news videos of them bombing Iraq the night the war started.

Computer doesn't mean the things we have now. Computers don't even need electricity. Computers can vary in many ways, not just things we are using now a days.

And there is a difference between dropping a bomb and a bomb blowing up. Look up the news. You'll find know such thing as America dropping bombs, but more that Iraq blows up cars and stuff like that.

"a machine for performing calculations automatically" - anything like that needs electricity.

America DID drop bombs. It was on the news. I watched it as it happened live on tv. How can that sorta stuff be fabricated?

Here's an image with information on the bombs used - http://www.u.arizona.edu/~sung/english100/images/bombing-iraq.jpg

Hmm... I never recalled reading that they bombed. Wait, were these nuclear? I may be confusing it with the only time nukes were used in war, which was the World War II Japan bombings of Nagasaki and I forget the other places name.

–noun
1.
Also called processor. an electronic device designed to accept data, perform prescribed mathematical and logical operations at high speed, and display the results of these operations. Compare analog computer, digital computer.
2.
a person who computes; computist.

"A computer does not need to be electric, nor even have a processor, nor RAM, nor even hard disk. The minimal definition of a computer is anything that transforms information in a purposeful way."
Computer

"electronic" is in your definition.
But at the same time it isn't. Plus it originated in 1640-1650. Back then there was nothing like that, and they used it as a calculation system. Basically it was for war. And they used chess with it to further help in their strategies.

"According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word "computer" was first used to describe a mechanical calculating device in 1897. Although the word existed previously, it had been used to describe "a person who computes or performs calculations."

So no, it wasn't a 'machine' before 1897, and today a computer refers to electronic devices.

only good thing about war is that it keeps the human population in check. beyond that I can't see much use for it expect to let out the human need of violence.

sure it may have advance tech in places but for what price though?

@Dyntasygal Machine Machines don't have to be electronic, or mechanical for that matter.

@DS The population is way to high. We barely have room in very populated cities. Japan, China, India, and US are over populated. I'm not saying kill them, but people don't die in battle that often. Most of them die after from a cancer, or something like that. Unless some one throws a grenade at them, or something like that, they don't die in masses; one by one.

War is necessary when an unfriendly country attacks another country, or if a country is run by a crazy dictator which enslaves his people to attack other countries or a group of people who are innocent.

I'm glad that weapons are being more robotic, and computerized since fewer US, Canadian, British, Ally Soldiers have to die or be seriously disabled by losing limbs, eyes, or their hearing fighting the war since robotic fighter planes are use to attack the enemy combatants, and their bases.

The Reaper drone unmanned plan which is control by the safety of the military base is a lot safer to use then real soldiers.
