I CALLED IT. Just didn't expect it to happen so soon.

Today, a report from Bloomberg.com has revealed that Warner Brothers is looking to finalize a deal with HBO to completely reboot the Harry Potter series. The series will take place over 7 seasons, with each season covering a different book. Variety adds it will be for HBO Max and not HBO television. WB originally created 8 movies with a 2-part finale to cover each J.K Rowling novels. Though many fans of the novels have admitted that the films left out many plot points found in the books.

As crappy as I expect this to be it will at least have much of the content that was cut out of the books to make the movies.

Now's their chance to make it accurate to the books.

I don't expect anything to be exactly like the books. Each one would be 14 hours long and it would take forever to watch.
I feel like you could compress a lot of that information, for example, settings and set pieces are described. However, too much of that probably isn't important in movie form, where the tone might need to be different.

If they do it right, you and the rest of the fans would enjoy every last minute of those 14+ hours lol.

Anyway, I'm glad they are doing it as a tv series instead of another movie series. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I probably would enjoy those 14 hours. But someone like my husband probably wouldn't. That's the reason why he agrees to watch the movies with me is because they're only a couple of hours long. He can handle giving up a couple of hours of his time but he can't see himself giving up a whole bunch of time to read the book.

Way too quick for me and really not necessary. It's not a surprise though, it's an easy decision for them

It's not like it will air all at once lol.

Oh, I know. But my hubby likes a movie because it's generally over in a couple of hours. He can watch it all in one sitting.

But since it's going to be a tv show, he may be okay with it then as well. He'll only have to watch it for 30 minutes or an hour at a time. It'll still be faster than reading a book.....for him anyway.

I did figure they'd remake the Harry Potter series eventually but I didn't think they'd do it this soon after the movies.

I am a little curious how they will make this into a tv show instead of doing the movies.

How does everyone feel about the tv show? Will you watch it or not watch it? Do you think it's "too soon" for a remake? Do you think they should have done the movies again or are you okay with them doing this as a tv show?

If they are going to do this as a tv show, I hope they don't get started and then cancel it part way through. I hate it when I get invested in a tv show I'm watching and the network decides to cancel it.

If done right and actually adapts the books correctly, fans are sure to be pleased.
