What Do the Next Pokemon Games Need?

So a recent article I read got me thinking of my BW2 wishlist. There are several things the Pokemon series can do to improve, so what are you wanting in the next set of games?

Here are a few things I would like:

Customizable characters- there always seems to be one really stupid-looking character. And since you only have one male and one female, half the time I end up playing as a girl. Customizing characters would be great and make online battling more fun. Remember Dragon Quest 9? Something like that would be great.

Remove IV system- the EV system is enough. really, it was a great idea in my mind, but in reality it just means hours of breeding or hacking. And most people just hack, which really kills the fun of the game in the long run.

Don't add new Pokemon for a generation or so- So, Kyurem can fuse huh? Well, a back in Gen 4 I suggested they make a fusion system for attacks and to make double battles more interesting. Well, updating the battle system would make the new games fun without the need for MORE Pokemon. Also, you can just make different varieties of the many, many Pokemon available in each region.

Make your own Gym/town (add more customization in post game)- sprite-based games are fun. Especially since you usually are able to include some kind of building or customization system in there. Imagine White Forest/Black City done RIGHT. Imagine creating your own area and having other players come in to play. It could happen. We have the technology.

Customize and build your own Pokeballs for different situations- okay, so they have stickers, and apricorns, but I am talking about a system where you bring different components and build your own Pokeballs. They could be super effective against different types, or by area, or combining several of the other elements they included in past Pokeball upgrades. Maybe they could give you a free customization part with every 10 balls you buy instead of the Premier Ball (which has no added bonus).

Co-op dungeons- remember playing through areas in Heartgold or Platinum where a NPC joined you? Wouldn't it have been nice if there were optional areas where you could only play if another player joined you? Battle Subway/Tower doesn't count. I want to be able to catch things not available in my copy or even level up in their game.

Unlock more when you reach catching benchmarks- you just caught everything! Umm... congrats? No bells or whistles. Sad times. How about only letting you catch certain legendaries when you've caught 150, 300, etc Pokemon? Or maybe that's how you get the Master Ball this time around? I mean, giving the Master Ball for your 50th trade was pretty random, so why not?

What would you like Game Freak to add/fix in Pokemon?

More battle stages: In BW all the indoor battles are simply brown/grey colored, despite some areas have different themes.

Pokemon from previous generations available to catch before you beat the game, because many people are complaining about the new ones. (although I like them)

Legendaries from previous generations to catch after you beat the game.

Bring back the secret bases! And make them usable over wifi!
I was thinking this too. I was like, "I haven't played Sapphire in a while. Too bad my GBA is broken. Oh well there's nothing special anyway." Then I remembered the secret bases and I was like, "Oh yeah, they need to bring that back. Those were awesome." It's better than that underground junk they had in D/P.

i actually DO want some new pokemon, forms or something, and more areas/old pokemon back/battle frontier and a longer advanture after the league thing so it isnt just ended and make u capture some legandaries, no i want them to make a different long story for certain legandaries too

If there is a Battle Frontier, I want it like in the anime where you fight brains. Not like in HG where it's the battle tier and other stuff like that.

Make a darn 3d game with full battle animation, and Im not talking 3DS pop-up 3d, I mean a real poligon based game with real Pokemon animations and awesome battle effect. Look at the Pokedex3D wouldn't it be awesome to have a full game looking and moving like that? I mean sprites are cool and Im the 2D Paladin but Pokemon needs to evolve and it's already late. Gamefreaks needs to stop pressing B and let it grow.

Hands down better online. This fc thing is dumb and their random system they have is a joke. Also I would like the Vs. Seeker back. Great for EV training

Everything the anime had.

Eg.
*Going through every region getting every badge

*Having Pokemon walk with you (and they should keep it. I never got to play HG or SS :

Edit: Stupid reply box ate the rest of my post after it posted twice. Argh. But you get the idea.

i liked the underground, but it could have been done better.
also if you connected to someone else, their secret base becomes availiable to go to permanetly but their flag is only catchable when youre connected.

Having the choice to have pokemon follow, New pokemon is a must!, deeper story line, thats about it. I like how the pokemon games are now, I have been playing since RBY.

The ability to customize Pokeballs has been in previous versions and went over well. I think you should be able to just build it from the ground up. It would add a much deeper level of gameplay then simply mashing ball throws. The customized town was ALSO already in the game. You just had to beat the game fast enough to get your Black City/White Forest to look good. That's pretty stupid as is and should be fixed. What I am talking about is also very similar to the Underground, which most Pokemon fans want back (as 3 or so people have posted it in this very thread).

As far as not needing more Pokemon goes... There are 649 Pokemon. And now certain ones can fuse together. If fusion becomes a main part of the game, then there THOUSANDS of possible Pokemon. Now they have a chance to make weird/rarely used Pokemon useful by fusing them with others.I don't think they need to make even more of them, but should instead focus on balancing the meta game. Eviolite was a great addition to the games that made some previously pathetic Pokemon widely used. They need more things like that to make better use of existing Pokemon. Otherwise, no matter how many they add, I can probably name the only 20-25 Pokemon you will ever see in competitive use. And that's just BORING.

Imagine fusing Magikarp and Smeargle... Completely useless...

Pikachu. Make him catch-able before beating the Elite Four, darn it. And none of this 'transfer him over' crud, I wanna catch him BEFORE I clear the game, not after.

The option to have your Pokemon at the top of your party to follow you around or not.

Transfer Pokemon under... Say... Level 50 before the end of the game.

Ball Capsules must return...

The ability to explore the whole region before heading to the Elite Four (the way it used to be.). For the original Black and White games you have to beat them once and you haven't even finished looking around the region.

Maybe being able to pick from older heroes as well as the newer ones. Like picking between Emerald's heroes, Fire Red/Leaf Green's, Platinum's, Black and White's, as well as the new ones.

The heroes have already been announced, and even if they weren't, having them return as main characters may mess with the timeline (unless they age the character appropriately).

Also, I really enjoyed the aspect of not exploring the whole game before beating the Elite Four. They've pretty much been doing it since Gold/Silver and it really adds to the amount of gameplay in the gen.

I don't remember if they've announced Pikachu yet, but they've already announced that several older Pokemon will be available before the end of the game.
