There are some countries that now control how social media is being run in their country and the type of contents that can be shared. Do you see it as a good idea or not?

Whatever the platform can do they will do it. There's nothing stopping people from hiding or masking what you want to know. Government censoring is even harder to get rid of because it gets everywhere and no one can say anything against it. You could have a moderate opinion, and you would be set up by some large corporate media company as a radical in one way or another.

Lately a lot of social media censorship falls under “they don’t agree with me, so I’ll ban them”.

I don’t mind censoring adult content or things that are illegal, but when it gets to political commentary, you’re just making an echo chamber.

Adult contents should be censored, but I have some reservations with political differences too. Users should be allowed to air their political views as far as I am concerned.

I know freedom of speech doesn’t make you immune from freedom of consequence, but I know Twitter was notorious for banning people that didn’t align with Jack Dorsey.

Really? The highlight of being on Twitter for me was the day they banned Donald Trump during the last elections. It was crazy.

He was hardly the only person Twitter bans.

I haven’t kept up with Twitter banning since Elon took over, but Dorsey definitely notorious for banning people for questionable comments that were right leaning. Hateful left leaning comments were either straight up ignored, or even encouraged.

It’s the hypocrisy of how you’ll get banned for a remotely negative comment about black people, but you’ll get praised and positively featured on the news for saying we should fire all white people. I wish I was being hyperbolic…

Well, Twitter is becoming more toxic nowadays and it's a shame.

It depends on what they are censoring. If it's too bad for the people to have a view of it, by all means, let them censor it.

I feel social media companies should remove unlawful content like threats of violence, so they don't get in trouble with the law or sued by fake news victims who do not want negative fake news stories about them being posted online.

But, I feel a lot of members will leave a social network if the websites starts removing many members posts because their posts does not agree with the websites's owners' personality, political and social views.

In just one simple word, here's what I think: YUCK!

But then again, social media platforms (as well as forums and YouTube) are not democracies, and lots of people seem to forget, or just don't realize that!

I'm fine with it as long as it is in moderation and only when it is required such as someone posting porn on social media.

Like the lots of porn videos that are everywhere on Twitter. It sucks to be there sometimes.
