I find it is convenient that some mobile racing games let players setup their cars to automatically drive forward and accelerate, so gamers don't need to manually press on the gas/accelerate button, and just need to press the brake button to slow down, and left and right button to accelerate.
I think it is designed for lazy people. The gaming experience isn't as great if you're having it done automatically.. What is the point in playing a racing game then?
