I'm not really looking at smartphones for Android gaming as I don't believe they are very comfortable or powerful to game with. I am looking more towards an Android tablet or TV box. Can anyone please suggest me towards one (either tablet or box) any let me know the pros and cons of each? Thanks.

I think the Nvidia Shield TV is the best Android console for gaming because it uses the Tegra X1 Chip which is probably one of the fastest mobile chips. The Shield TV can also stream games from a desktop pc or laptop with a newer Nvidia video card. It also has Google Play installed on it, so you can run many Android games and apps which work with Android TV.

The Nvidia TV cost $199 for the 16GB version, and $299 for the 500GB version with a hard drive. You can use a MicroSD or USB drive to expand the storage.

But, you need to buy your own Shield controller which cost around $60, or use a Bluetooth wireless controller.

The Nvidia Shield K1 16GB 8 inch tablet is probably the best Android tablet for gaming. It uses the Nvidia K1 chip, and has 2GB of RAM which is fast enough to play most current Android games, It supports the Shield controller like the Nvidia Shield TV. It also has a Micro-HDMI port for using it to connect to a TV for gaming or watching video. It has a MicroSD card slot, front facing speakers, and Dual-band 802.11AC Wifi.

It cost $199 for the Nvidia Shield tablet 16GB Wi-Fi version.

I agree using a PC for playing Android games with a keyboard and mouse or USB joystick/gamepad accessory.

Bluestack Android Emulator for PC now has Twitch Built-in, so Bluestack can be good if you are also a game streamer on Twitch.

There are Apps like Game Keyboard which let you map on-screen buttons to a keyboard, so you can play them on PC if the Android game does not support Keyboard.

Once I get a new laptop and I think the first I do is set up a phone gaming app on it.

I think a Gaming Desktop PC is good for phone gaming apps because desktops are less likely to overheat compared to a laptop which sometimes get very hot when you have the laptop powered on for many hours, or when playing games, video, and using big programs like video editors.

unfortunately its laptop or bust for me right now. Maybe in 5 years I'll be able to set up a gaming room with a large desktop PC.

There are smaller sized Gaming desktops which are the size of regular desktop PC or consoles. But, they are sometimes more expensive, and can be louder because the cooling fans need to spin faster to more quickly cool all the parts like CPU, and video cards which can run very hot during intense gaming.

Unfortunately, these smaller gaming desktops have fewer video card and RAM slots, and hard drive ports, so you can't install more than one video card, and you can't install a lot of RAM or storage like full size gaming PC.

Froggyboy did made good points and very information on the gaming box but it really depends on you. If you want a fixed location (the gaming box or a gaming desktop) or something you can carry with you (a tablet). When we can narrow that down, we can give more option on which gaming console for androids or options in tablets because there are so many to choose from.

Probably a tablet or something portable. I have a PS4 for console gaming.

It would be a good idea to wait for the next Nvidia Shield tablet which may be released soon. There are rumors that it would have more RAM, and use the new Nvidia X1 chip which is the same chip which is found on the Shield TV console. The current Shield tablet will most likely be cheaper when the next Nvidia tablet is released soon.
