When will the 'new' art style finally just die already?

You know what I mean, the New Super Mario Bros/Mario 3D Land generic art style and ideas that have been done to death in recent Mario games.

When will Nintendo finally give up on it and try something new? Cause Super Mario Bros 1, 3, World, 64, Sunshine and Galaxy all looked very different in every sense, and to see the current art style go on and one for what must be about two generations is getting rather tiresome.

So when did you think Nintendo will give up the 'New' Mario stylings?

If they're not gonna change up the gameplay or come up with new content then they should at least change up the style. Give everything a redesign!

The usual Mario designs haven't changed in years!

If they HAVE to make another generic Mario game then they should at least go apeshit with a new artstyle! Make it look really different!

That would be interesting, wouldn't it?

I doubt they will. If it's too different people just complain. If it ain't broke, don't fix it and wether people like it or not, it's not broken. The games sell and that's what they want. Look at the sell of previous Mario games. All the 2D platformers have sold better than the 3D free roam games.

I doubt they will as well. The only way they will do anything completely new would be if the games don't sell, or if there is enough backlash.
