Xbox SX Where are all the games?

I know MS bought up a lot of game studios, do you feel that Xbox should have a lot more games on it?
 
They've squandered a lot of good talent and shutdown some promising studios. Games are still releasing but nothing noteworthy.
 
Sadly, a lot of the problem seems to be that the corporate machine behind Microsoft and Game Pass just hasn’t handled the passion side of gaming very well. They bought a ton of studios, but most of them weren’t delivering hit games even before the acquisitions, and after joining Xbox, nothing really changed. Big titles like Starfield, Outer Worlds, Redfall, etc. should’ve been major exclusives that defined the platform, but none of them really took off. And the franchises they already had, Forza, CoD, Fallout, and Overwatch, were all trending downward, and Microsoft didn’t do much to rebuild or refresh them.

So, Xbox basically purchased its way into being known for tired franchises and big-budget games that never lived up to the hype.

Personally, I think a lot of this comes from how Game Pass is positioned. Instead of being a platform that boosts new studios and gives fresh games huge visibility, it feels like it’s built around using big-name titles to sell subscriptions. And when the platform leans that hard on “big titles,” those same big titles have no real incentive to push themselves. Meanwhile, all the new and trending content gets pushed out of the spotlight.

Honestly, the whole situation with the remake just feels like it’s flying under the radar, and not in a good way. They’re already splitting up the teams for whatever the next Halo ends up being, which doesn’t inspire much confidence when even the current project isn’t getting the full weight of the studio behind it. And as you pointed out, Xbox hasn’t exactly been putting much hope behind Halo lately.

If you ask me, 343 (or Halo Studios now) still isn’t the answer. The remake should’ve been handed to a fresh studio with something to prove. Let Halo Studios focus entirely on the next mainline game, because if they want the best possible result, they need a full team dedicated to it. Splitting resources just guarantees another half‑step.

Giving the remake to a new studio would’ve also opened the door for someone else to potentially take over the franchise if they knocked it out of the park. That’s a win‑win: Halo gets a high‑effort remake, and Microsoft gets a chance to see who can actually carry the series forward.

Instead, in modern Xbox fashion, we’re getting the lose‑lose version: a remake with limited attention and a mainline game that’s already starting development with a fractured team.
