And I'm just saying that Epic yarn isn't a bad game. It just doesn't fit in line with Kirby games. It should of starred Prince Fluff like it was supposed to. That's what I think, anyway. People knew Return to dreamland was coming out because it was shown at E3 2005.
Anyway... I like Epic Yarn. But they should have add copying.
Thing is, games are still a business.
And Kirby games will sell better than new IPs.
It's the sad truth.
The game took away the one thing that made Kirby special. It's not because it's different. It's because they took away. It's not Kirby if he can't steal powers. It's what Kirby's done since the beginning. Well not the first Kirby game, but it became a staple in the series. Take that away, and poof, Kirby isn't special any more. He's just a pink puff ball that swallows things or spits them up. Like Yoshi.
The point is that it's still a great game even if it doesn't use the usual gameplay mechanics.
Luigi's Mansion didn't use any of the usual Mario gameplay mechanics either but it's still a great Mario game because it's just a spin-off. And Epic Yarn is a spin-off, too.
Saying Kirby isn't special if he can't copy powers is like saying Luigi isn't special if he can't jump. In Luigi's Mansion he never jumps because the game isn't built around jumping but Luigi is still a great character.
In the same way Epic Yarn isn't built around sucking stuff up and copying powers (cuz it wasn't a kirby game at first, remember?).
I think we need spin-offs like this. Variety, you know? Why not a Kirby game that plays different for once?
Imagine Nintendo said: "What? A game where Luigi hunts ghosts, instead of running and jumping? That would suck!"
Then we would've never gotten that great game.
If you want a traditional Kirby game then you're looking in the wrong place.
Would you have prefered it if the game wasn't a kirby game at all? It's not like we would've gotten another regular Kirby instead. We would've gotten nothing until Kirby's Return to Dream Land was released.
I'm rambling again, ain't I?
So anyway. You're entitled to your opinion and I don't want to make you change it, I just want to get a point across.
More spin-offs doesn't mean less normal games.
I've been reading the entire convo going on here and I love how no one ever points out Kirby's Dream Course for SNES, Kirby Pinball Land, Kirby Block Ball.. Star Stackers... All arguably great games and I enjoyed all of them and I agree with Shy entirely on all of his view points. Dark Young Link, I totally understand where you are coming from; you jumped into the franchise LOOONG after it had come out and are too accustomed to how Kirby is perceived nowadays, but for old school fans who have been here since Kirby came with the GameBoy bundled with it, we don't mind the lack of powers as actually a LOT of his previous games did not have them..
Anyway, not to act as a moderator here but before Nin3DS gets upset I think we should all jump back on topic.

Yeah, as I said, it's one of the many spin-offs. I didn't feel like it was necessary to point those other ones out. I mean Kirby is known for having a shitload of spin-offs that generally have little in common with the other games.
Just look at Mass Attack. That one is so abstract.
So yeah, back to topic: I fucking LOVE Wario Land! And we need another installment. :3
I also love Yoshi's Island though....but the DS one was not nearly as good.
By the way: Does anyone mind if I swear? I mean this is the internet after all.... I'll try to fucking control myself. Aw, fuck. xD
