Who actually uses the 3D feature?

Been using it quite often while playing. Then again I just got my 3DS today so I may grow tired of it soon

Super Mario 3D Land stated that some of the levels required 3D. I didn't turn it on at all and completed that game 100% (besides accidentally using a gold leaf before learning it destroys your chance of shiny stars).

For me it's the opposite. The 2D look is much better in terms of quality.
Oh... I thought you meant it said like on the box or something that meant it requires you to play in 3D for better experience or you can't play it at all, my bad, lol. If you read it on IGN just know they really aren't reporters, there regular people and review games, 2D and 3D can have different effects on any game, don't know if you have it but on Resident Evil: Revelations the lighting with the 3D off is very dim and it doesn't seem natural, with the 3D on it seems to have that reflection, when light bounces of the surface so you can see its color, that's the effect I'm referring about and then the quality it gets bright, don't know if you know how it works but it works by splitting apart an image and Resident Evil: Revelations gets better quality from it, another i say is New Super Mario Bros. 2, it gives Mario and the platform a better view while eliminating the background, pretty good but the background becomes blurry and its a pain to really enjoy that game on 3D.

Everyone has their personal opinions about it, it also depends about there eye quality, for you I might say you have a better quality than me, I do own glasses since I can't see well anymore and one eye is a bit better than the other, I don't always use them because I'm embarrassed wearing them, but with 3D I see the quality enhanced that's why when I wear it and turn 3D on it bugs me and it doesn't seem high quality, to really understand it you gotta know how the 3D works. This could be a good debate topic.

My response when I seen this topic was: Who actually plays with it off?!
I think you should clean your screen if you see blurriness or get in the sweet spot instead of seeing 3 of everything.

After a while you get used to the 3D effect but when you turn it off the games look flat, dull, and not very interesting to look at. So on full blast 24/7 for me.

This is me. Given the option, why would I turn it off? I also don't tend to listen to music in mono.

From time to time I'll turn it down to imagine how it looks flat, but it always goes straight back up.

iam actually suprised about the damage done to people's eyes. we have far more advanced technology for them to let that happen

It is only damaging to children's eyes while they are developing, and only if they play for more than 6 hours a day. I wear contacts/glasses, so sometimes playing with 3D for too long will put some strain on my eyes, but in no way is it damaging. Its no Virtual Boy.
there is no data on whether it does or does not damage sight in younger children. But as with anything concerning small children, caution is advised.

Basically if there's even the remotest chance lawsuits might ever arise, companies would rather play it safe.

I actually used it for a bit yesterday, as I just got SM3DL, as it does help with some of the perspective on objects... Unfortunately it quickly gave me a headache and I had to stop playing

The game itself DOES have an icon that tells you when a level or area is easier to play in 3D. This is because of perspective puzzles that are scattered throughout several levels of the game. While it is not required, per se, it DOES help you jump from platform A to platform B when you actually know where platform B is.

i only use it if the images dont go like 2 of everything but i just needed to calibrate it so 24/7

i tend to leave it off most of the time. i only really turn it on to look at something like pokemon in the 3D pokedex or puzzles in the Mii plaza

I had the same problem with the first smaller 3DS and did not buy one back in 2011. But I knew Nintendo would supersize it like
all their other handhelds. I love the 3D on the bigger XL unit and crank it to the max. Do you have the XL or the original?

I never use the 3D mode because it strains my eyes, and for some strange reason I get motion sickness. However, there is one game I am really looking foward to playing it in 3D mode when it comes out, Animal Crossing: New Leaf! :P

I play games usually 3D all the time, exceptions being New Super Mario Bros 2, since it gets rid of the background. For the people who said it stains their eyes, the thing about the 3d is, you have to let yourself get used to it. Allow yourself to play in 3d every now and then and it will put less and less of a strain on your eyes until it doesn't even make them hurt. It happened pretty quickly for me since I allowed myself to adjust to it.

Also, to the motion sickness, I've played 3D many times in the car (if the sun isn't reflecting off the screen) and I'm normally fine. I get motion sick when I play games with the stylus in the car though (both DS and 3DS games, the 3D effect has no added effect.)

I haven't tried it in a car or moving vehicle to be honest. Does it give you motion sickness?
Most modern cars travel really smoothly.

My dad's car, on the other hand, moves A LOT, and I can't bear playing my 3DS with 3D on in it.

But yea, I feel really bad when I play with 3D on a bus.
