From the official Mario Kart 7 site:

Mario's very heavy rival has joined the roster to wreak havoc on the road.

He's also seemingly a seperate character in both Mario Golf and Super Smash Bros. But who is he, considering he looks identical to Mario yet exists alongside him?

Then again, who's Dry Bowser nowadays, considering he too appears as an opponent to the real Bowser?

Shadow Mario appears as seperate too sometimes, maybe being II Piantissimo from Mario Sunshine due to the ending. Maybe Metal Mario is really Metal Shadow Mario?

What do you think?

wasn't metal Mario a power up in the N64 game?

Well, i dont' know what he is, i prefer shadow mario over metal mario, but i still wish there wouldn't be a mario copy in it at all.
I just really hope the creators of MK7 will use the patch more then this bug to add alot more replay value, cuz im basicly bored already with mk7 and thats sad since i loved mkds and played that for years.

Indeed. The music that played alongside the metal power-up was so epic. At least it was when I was seven...

Nah, still epic

I don't see Metal Mario as a seperate person. Mario is obviously skitsofrantic and every time he puts on the metal cap he gets taken over by a magical force taht splits his soul into two. That's why Mario and Metal Mario can co exist. Then when the power up runs out the soul is put together again. I know I said they can co exist meaning he seperate, but that's not my point.

My point is I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I wish he was a power-up
I despise the character for multiple reasons

ええオハイオ州私は今覚えている!私は彼がそのゲームではかなりクールだと思った。
Oh yeah I remember now! I thought he was pretty cool in that game.

Epic enough for 30 minutes non-stop?

I'm actually planning on listening to all of this now :I
I've done it with other game themes so I might just make it.

Going back to the main topic, I never understood why they did this. I was just as confused when they had Dr. Mario in SSBM. I guess they decided to ignore their past decision of making Mario turn into Metal Mario via the Metal Cap and just create another character.
