Why are we chained to money?

Money is just a means for transferring time and wealth and labor. We have to have something to exchange with each other because we can't just always swap goods or services. So money replaces that. Some people are way too into money and think that it will solve their problems. I'm not too sure what we can do about those folks. But if you use it like a tool like it is supposed to be used then it won't get the better of you.
