Why do all these article sites say the average gamer is about 30?

Or so, when about ninety percent of forums I've used have the member base between 13 and 24 years of age?

I mean, look at the member base here. I'd say about 30% odd are about 18-19 years old, and many of the other members either slightly older or younger. Where are all these 'adult' gamers online? They're certainly not found on sites like say, IGN or Gamespot.

In all honestly, am I the only one who suspects most older games tend to avoid internet forums about video ga,es?

Most adult gamers aren't going to have time to frequently browse internet forums. Teens and younger adults often do. However, I don't personally know many adult gamers. It'd be nice to see where those statistics came from. And are we considering casual gamers who play Angry Birds on their iPhones in this statistic?
