Why do Nintendo stop releasing patches after the first update to a game?

Seriously, every time they release an update to a game, they seem to release just one and then call it for a day, even if more glitches crop up later.

Like how in Mario & Luigi Dream Team, they released one patch for a couple of bugs, but didn't bother to release another one to fix the gyro controls failing at random issue.

Or how in Mario Kart 7, they fixed three shortcuts and then just ignored the game while another ten or so equally big ones were found by later players.

Or I guess in Pokemon. They fixed the Lumiose City one... and any other glitches went ignored.

Why do Nintendo seem to release one patch (if you're lucky) and then just let the game go ignored for months or years on end?

Do they not get this 'regular maintenance' or 'bug fixing' concept?

I guess not. It'd be nice if they would release a few that would add more features or places to a game.

well Nintendo wants to get rid of the glitches that are a problem and glitches they know about, so think of the other glitches as an oppurtunity to explore further into the glitch world or if your lucky the world of LAG. try to find out if theres a minus world within these glitches. you never know what you will find.

I imagine it's more that Nintendo is still getting used to way the 'new' gaming world works. Back in the olden days, you bought and game and if it was glitchy, too bad- they didn't have a way to fix them. There were no uploaded patches and whatnot. Likewise with expansions and DLC, they didn't really exist before with console games. We all know Nintendo is ridiculously slow on the uptake when it comes to advances in technology and ideas. They likely haven't set aside the time/workers to make sure their games stay up to date for the long term. I imagine that's also why some of their titles that really should have gotten DLC, like Mario Kart 7, did not.
