I don't own a PlayStation * everyone starts to stare at me for some strange reason *

...but I'd buy one mainly for the exclusive games such as Final Fantasy, >_>

I eventually bought PS1 (after the PS2 had been released for a few years) from someone I went to school with for cheap. If I recall right, I paid like 40$ for it and they also gave me a copy of Metal Gear Solid too.

I bought the system pretty much on a whim without really knowing many of the titles available on PS1. (I later ended up getting FF7, X4, X6, and like 1-2 other games I don't recall off hand.) Though it wasn't long before I moved onto the PS2.

And I've stuck with Playstation because they've just had more games I wanted to play. Whether it was Devil May Cry or God of War or Uncharted or inFamous or Ratchet and Clank or etc...
Neither microsoft nor Nintendo has really been able to keep up.

Don't get me wrong, I like Nintendo's franchises. But if I'm looking at maybe 4-5 games I want to play on one console versus 15-20 on another? It seems like the obvious choice to go with the system I'll be playing more on first. I did eventually pick up a Gamecube and enjoyed some of their great titles like: SSBM, Metroid Prime, Twilight Princess... still looking to get Metroid Prime 2 and Paper Mario though.
And down the line I might get their 8th gen console. (Depending on my money supply, what games they release and how many other games I've got to play/want to play on PS3/PS4/Vita.)

I've been a huge playstation fan ever since PS1. I originally started with the classic RPG's like Legend of Dragoon and the Final Fantasy Series, and ever since then I've just always preferred the Playstation. However PS1 and PS2 were great amazing consoles, the PS3 didn't quite make as big as an impact. I'm hoping with PS4 on the horizon that the Playstation will be able to return to it's former glory.

I bought my PS1 a week after it's release($480.00 if I recall). Nintendo was not strong. N64 was suppose to come out a few years later but most people were tired of the mario kiddy thing. Super Nintendo was a hair more popular than Sega Genesis but the reputation was that "It's ok....if you play super NES but Sega is for cooler and older kids".

There was only really sega saturn, sony ps1, and 3do in the spotlight at the time. 3D0, although awesome, was too expensive, sega saturn wasn't doing well which was typical considering 32X & sega CD was a flop.

I chose PS1 because at the gaming store I tried twisted metal 1 and was sold by the graphics, the game cases were cool looking, and I liked simulations like Themepark & A-train.
When I bought it there was no shortage of good games while the competitors all slowly went away.

I find that really interesting. When ps2 came out that didn't make a good impact on me because I was playing computer games like Halflife, quake, unreal, and renegade. When the PS3 came out I was really impressed because there are so many good games for it. What didn't you like about the ps3?

A lot actually, with the exception of a few exclusives, the games I find a very bland. Gaming this generation has taken a turn in all the wrong directions, everything is focused on mindless shooting and little to no story anymore. I enjoyed games with stories that got you sucked in to it, Dead to Rights (the first one) for example was a great game on the ps2. Of course that era of gaming was also pre-online gaming, so there wasn't much focus on shooters and such.

The one system I have never had was the original playstation or "PSone".

My friends had it and if I wanted to say play certain games like Tomb Raider or the WWF smackdown series games I would go to their house and play it.

But I had a Nintendo 64 at the time and was pretty satisfied with the games I had for it and had no intention of buying a playstation.

It was not until the Playstation 2 that I decided to go the playstation route mainly for the release of Grand Theft Auto 3.

I bought a Playstation 1 out of boredom because I had nothing to do at home, and so I can play Final Fantasy 8, and other games. Plus, I did not own a decent computer back in the past, so I was very limited at the amount of computer games I can play back then because of having no good computer which can play games.

I got the PS2 to play games like Gran Tourismo, Kingdom Hearts 1-2, Need for Speed : Underground, etc.

I was born and raised on Nintendo, the only reason I brought playstation into my gaming life was because my brothers got PS1 and I just love all the games that kept coming out on the system.

I got a PS1 when I was younger because my older brother had one and I loved how awesome the games like Twisted Metal 2 were on it. So I got one myself and fell in love with the library. We also had a N64 that was cool , unfortunately we were never able to get a sega saturn. I would love to have one now but don't have the right type of TV to hook it up unfortunately.

That said, I've been happy with Playstation consoles and games for the past 18 years. :)

Pretty much my home story, TM2 was awesome B)

Um...

I didn't buy it...

We were asked to fix it, and we could never figure out what was wrong. Cue to one year ago. I figure out that I could always contact Sony.

And now bam, we have a free PS3. And we're getting rid of the 360, so, more games!

*The guy who asked us to fix it got another PS3.

I currently only use my PS3 for racing games, due to its support of the G27 steering wheel. If the Xbox supported more decent wheels, I would have stuck with the Xbox for racing games.

i've never feel like choosing one instead of the other. Playstation console compliments Nintendo. Having both I feel I can get a variety of different games and franchises I look up for. XBox and Sony i feel share so much that having a PS doesn't make me feel left out of experiences enough to fork on the other console. If I had come across the Xbox before PS I'd probably would be in a reversed situation.

But as things happened. I got into through the PS One thanks to a cousin that gave us many games and a good bargain in the second hand market. I got involved with a few franchises and tried many different titles, mostly average. The playstation 2 was a lift up to me as I got attached to new franchises and discovered through sequels good games I had skipped.

Play Station 3 has been a very good console so far and more varied and balance in my opinion that many people make it out to be. I have enjoyed games like Red Dead Redemption, Heavy rain, Little Big Planet, etc and i am happy with their HD Releases of past titles. now that I have more franchises to look for and that my stay with Playstation consoles have been worth my time, effort and money I will probably keep supporting them.

I bought my PlayStation 1 simply because it was awesome at that time and it costed less than a computer
If you bought a computer of 1200$ it was going to have the same power as the PS1 for 300$ had
