There are cables which make it possible to connect a hand held to a TV.

With mobile phones like the iPhone, youcan use an Apple TV settop box to wirelessly play iOS games from iPhone and iPad on a TV connected to Apple TV settop box.

I bet Apple, another brand, or a hacker would find a way to stream games via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth from newer handhelds like a Vita to a HDTV by using Apple TV.

I honestly prefer my television. It's usually my accomodating for something (i.e., price, not enough games on new consoles) when I buy a handheld game console.
