I see more news of people being robbed, shot, poor conditions and other similar things than news of who is winning medals.

Why is the Olympics in Rio? SO that they will have less people going next year because they got killed

Rio won as the host city for the Summer 2016 Olympics many years a go. It is too late for another city to take over as the 2016 Olympic city because they may not have all the swimming pools, tracks, and courses which are needed to host the Olympics.
