Why isn't Gamecube on the Wii U VC?

The Wii U has to have the power for full emulation, as this is available on the Wii with the help of DiOS MiOS. Nintendo should have no problem putting a Gamecube game on the VC; it seems to me like it's more a matter of 'I don't want to take the time to do it.'

What do you guys think?

Nintendo doesn't want our money.............

Well obviously since they can but haven't, they've judged it's not in their best interests to do so or want to spend the time/money to do it. Another reason why Nintendo needs to change some things.

They want fans to be happy from new games. Virutual Console is nice, yes, but they want to make new games to please us more than the old.

That's my guess anyway.

If they are afraid of the system going under, then they really should listen to the fans.

I'm all for them making new games to please people, but I mostly go for games like Mario and Zelda and such.

They should get a good Virtual Console lineup going in their downtime while the consumers are waiting for the new games to be released.

Yeah, wouldn't it help the sales of the WiiU?

If I was on the fence about buying it and I heard about being able to download older GC games as well I'd probably decide to buy it after all.

Part of me wonders if they are holding back on the GC games so they can release more HD remakes/ports like Wind Waker HD. Only time will tell. Perhaps they are running into issues with their GC emulator. It shouldn't be that big of an issue given the fact that they designed the console around being backwards compatible but who knows what's going on at Nintendo these days.

It's just messed up. Wii U VC is getting GBA games, but not Gamecube? Shouldn't that be the other way round but with 3ds getting GBA games? 3ds already has 10 GBA games (exclusive to ambassadors). A little brushing up of the emulation and they could charge good money for it. Well, £7 or so.

Maybe it's just a problem with Nintendo's programmers? Because in the homebrew scene it has been available for quite some time. How DiOS MiOS does it is it will recognize the GC backup as a disc game and use the Wii's hardware to run the game itself.

With Nintendo also not being able to get a good online service to work, then this could very well be the case.

Same reason SNES and GBA aren't on the 3DS. Nintendo's lazy or just doesn't feel like it. I once heard on the topic of this: "Nintendo adds the games they had the most fun making, rather then the games people want."

I think Nintendo wants excuses to make GC games into HD remakes (like LoZ:WW) that way they can charge you a decent amount of money and breath new life into some old classic with the Wii U hardware.

Then they should remake Mario Kart: Double Dash!

Come to think of it, a Double Dash remake with online would be pretty epic. I wouldn't count on it happening, though. :P

What I don't understand is why they thought it would be a good idea to put original DS games on the virtual console. (yes they are planning on doing that if you didn't know) It would be so much easier to do GC games instead and put DS games on the 3DS virtual console.

Nintendo's management of the VC has been horrible... We're only getting GBA now on the 3DS. The GameCube will probably come around the last year(s) or the Wii U.

Hmm, I could go for Mario Sunshine HD.

It would probably be very profitable for them to do that. It took them only 6 months to get Wind Waker up and running. They could do that with other games and sell them for $50, sell about a million with almost no advertising.

There's the advantage of selling core games, the core audience Nintendo has look for information, and will find out about the game with no advertising whatsoever. A quick trailer in a Nintendo Direct would do it.

Sadly, Nintendo seems to want the casual audience, but doesn't want to put in the foot work of marketing agressively to them.
