Yes, I think most sites which are being made these days will be social meaning you can make comments, share the articles to social networks like Twitter, Facebook, or Reddit.
I don't see many new websites which don't have commenting, sharing features, and allow members to make accounts to post pictures, and videos.
Most sites I go on these days are forums, blogs, video sharing sites, and social networks like Twitter which all allow visitors to socialize with each other. Even shopping sites like Amazon have become very social with reviews, commenting on reviews, forums, and profile pages for members.
