In a few years, It might not matter much which operating system you use since software companies especially free and open source companies these days are starting to make software for all the popular operating systems like Windows, Mac, and even Linux in some cases. Plus, with webmail, online word processors, Facebook, YouTube, Streaming video and Sound which are all web based, you can view them on "all" operating systems with a web browser like FireFox, Opera and Google Chrome which supports HTML5, Adobe Flash, Javascript, Java, etc.

I still seeing older versions of Windows and Mac being popular for playing older games, and using older software.
