One of the leaked builds is Windows 8.1 Update 1 Build 9600.16606, which was acquired by Windows leaker WZOR. Now there's speculation that Microsoft partners are already testing Update 1. There's also evidence showing that Microsoft plans to allow users to boot directly into Desktop rather than load up the Start screen first.

Booting directly to the desktop in Windows 8.1 Update 1 will be good for computers without a touchscreen. For now, people can just turn off boot to Start Screen in Windows 8.1 from the Desktop's Toolbar properties, or install a free program called Classic Shell which makes Windows 8/8.1 boot to the desktop, and also adds a startmenu to the startbutton.
