Would a Pokemon Mario crossover be awesome?

Imagine exploring the Mario world with Pokemon. The Koopalings are like Gym Leaders, you could explore the game in 2D with or without platforming elements, but with the RPG formula of Pokemon instead of the Mario and Luigi RPG spinoffs. But if you hit the enemy first you get the first move regardless of speed. The Pokemon are all the same but because it's a crossover/spinoff idea there would not be every Pokemon in the game, however it would be neat if you could play it like any mainseries game or compatible with it like the GCN Pokemon games. And instead of super training you could set your Pokemon off on their own and play as them jumping or attacking their way through a level (also with rare candy power ups). ?

So would you like to see a game like this in the future? I'm sure Game Freak would considering they made a rhythm game and a platformer game (Drill Dozer) already.

So, Dragon warrior Monsters / Dragon Quest Joker but with Mario's universe is what you just described. Sounds good to me. Personally, however, I'd rather it be Zelda or a mash-up of Nintendo licenses. Picture having your 6 mons be an octoroc, a metroid, a beta or alpha metroid from Metroid 2, a Buzzy Beetle (the red flying ones from Mario 3), a Dark Matter from Kirby, and a Grim Reaper from the original Kid Icarus.

Link would certainly have a hard time if a Grim Reaper spotted him. xD That also sounds like a neat game. Not sure about the whole Super Smash RPG thing though.

And it's sort of like DQM but like I said the battles would be like the mainseries Pokemon games and Mario could be a Pokemon trainer. There'll still be IVs, EVs, capturing Pokemon, but they are used against Mario enemies who also have Pokemon and it's a single or double battle format. You get the main idea. And trainers can fight along side Pokemon so it's definitely a bit like DQ or PMTTYD. Maybe even with power ups for items but that's questionable in my opinion. The point is you can level up like in an RPG but with simple platforming to do it if you wish to level up quickly. Which might be required against harder enemies which have to be dealt with using the 4 limited moves for each Pokemon and trainer. (choose between Luigi, Mario's rival, Toad, Mario, the typical Red, or Peach) and they are each given certain Pokemon with different types to start out.

Super Smash RPG?  Huh? I never mentioned SSB in any way. I was actually going off of the concept of my Nintendo Monopoly board game meets Pokémon. I'm not a fan of the Smash Brothers series.

Again, you just described DQM:J2 for the DS almost to a T. Joker 2 had all the stuff yu mentioned except IVs or jumping on enemies (although running into them from behind gave first strikes).

I think even Nintendo themselves messed around with the Mario/Pokemon idea. Cause I remember seeing an April Fool's Day joke by Nintendo Power which said you could catch Luigi in Pokemon Red and Blue.

Just the concept sounds like a franchise trainwreck because the Mario series and Pokemon series are unique and distinct to themselves... But the described gameplay sounds neat! I'd give it a try if it came out, but Mario characters in the Pokemon world or vice versa is just super off the wall!

Guess I read this ^ the wrong way. My bad.

I don't think Mario Mon would work too well but the others would. The selections for Pokemon Mario and Bowser have fit really well. Even if they just made a cameo it would be really neat.
